| Oooh...now the white one I want to see. Everyone is seemingly down on the whole car being body color, but I like it. M

| here it is or sorta OT: Today a crazy idea cross my mind while driving home, for sporty car "say M5", why don't manufacturers offer a bizar option by doing the following: - - Placing a small high quality mic in the engine compartement and tune a mulitimedia source at the cars entertainement system where you can actually hear the engine noise inside the cabin through the hi fi system provided, IMO it will add thrill to the driving experience by hearing the engine noise louder inside the cabin and on demand. As stupid it might sound but I actually like the idea, why do you think guys ? |

| So this is it, BMW has now the fastest SUV, and for me, it is the best looking SUV at the market. I would but this before a ML 63 AMG, wich is in my second place. And on the third the X5, that would be great if it wouldn´t have that stupid rear bumper. The worst part of the car is the interior, wich in fact is great, but is not that far from a standard X6 interior, they just changed the dials and added the M logo to the steering wheel and the shifter. Nor even the pedals are in metal or something like that. |

VW showcased a Passat, with this feature. You could choose a discreet V6 or a thunderous V8 noise for you VW Passat... Funny isn't it? However, if you open the bonnet of a car while a motor runs, you'll notice the noise is far from beautiful, it's on the exhaust that you have the "nice noise"(fine-tuned by the carmakers) of the car. The motor itself sounds like a tractor. Could be a nice idea, but may sound a bit too "digitalized". Many carmakers have instead of that a system of exhaust valves, tha&t open at a certain rpm or throttle input and deliver a much louder noise. Porsche, Jaguar or Aston Martin have this. Porsche (like Mitsu on the 3200GT) has an optional button to open that valve and make the noise louder, since the 996. Maybe it's not available any more, or is part of the sport-Chrono pack?

| That can easily be fixed...the X6 M is a new favorite of mine. I want to see it in Black or Dark Blue. M

| Doesn't the standard-issue X6 have optional wheels that are larger than these? I have no idea what the ride-performance consequences would be if they were larger, but visually, the car really suffers without those wheels. It's the classic Bangle-equilibrium situation - If the sheetmetal and bodywork yell louder than the wheels, your eyes tell you that something is very wrong. Either that, or the darn X6 M just needs to ride an inch lower - of course, this is coming from a layperson who's just talking aesthetics.

| You can have tons of complaints M division going Turbo but this a mean machine with lots of road presence. This is a manly masculine car.

| I think the rear wheel appearing too small is cause of the rims being only as tall as the sheet metal above it thanks to the rising belt line and lack of a proper greenhouse to balance it. Cause X5 M doesn't seem to suffer as much from it despite having wheels of same size. ![]() ![]() The other car that I feel suffers from the midget rear wheels syndrome, but not as badly as the X6 M, is the E coupe. Which kind of makes sense since it shares some basic elements with the X6 - a rising belt line and a sloping roof line. ![]() |

| Very good analysis sunny - This was a problem that first cropped-up with the introduction of the 2000 Toyota Celica. This mostly has to do with the beltline and the resulting amount of sheetmetal between it and the wheel-well below the C-pillar. The X5/X6 compro is dramatic, despite there being very little physical difference in the overall girth of these two vehicles. You are indeed correct about the E Coupe as well, but I think the car probably resolves itself better in person thanks to the "flared" rear fenders.

For many years they been talking like only a 3 & 5 series were worth an M badge. Not to mention how many times BMW followers dogged Benz for putting AMG on a M & S-class. Well looks like nobody can talk trash about "the weight issue". I'm so glad though. I have been waiting for BMW to "M" some of their other cars. This X6 M looks good. Anyone know how the X6 sales are so far? I haven't seen too many in the states. | |

| I'm smiling at some of the "fat" remarks. It's not fat, it's just chubby... I prefer the white to the red, and black overall will look best. I do wish it kept the titanium kidney grille, and chrome window trim could be an option. That is all.

| Oh, ... No. No-no-no. Not the X6 M. This car is "fat", "not worthy of M badge", "a swan song for M badge", "not a true M", "another SAV from BMW", "too chubby" etc. Perhaps it's not under 8, but close to 8? Or is it really under 8? The officials say "significantly faster than E46 M3" - which did the Ring in 8:22 Eager to see the real performance data? Coming soon ... Stay tuned. ![]() |

| Old news, this was already said many months ago. The X6 M will be around as fast on the Ring as the E46 M3 is ![]() ![]()
