Yep, and that's what he's looking for. A cruising machine with decent fuel economy. It's just that I don't like the new front. I need to see it in real life first. I might change my mind but I also might not!

The new front. I don't like it. I'm cool with it if my dad gets the car but if I don't like the front it will feel weird if I drive it because I'm one of those guys who likes to drive a car that I think looks good.

The new SL doesn't look good to me from the front. Maybe when I see it in real life I'll change my mind.

Of course it got. Better price, better economics to name two things.

Well i hope u do like it in real coz i'm freaking loving it man,and don't listen to Andreas about the Jag XK crap it's a good car but nothing compared to the new SL IMO

The XK is the poor man's Aston, I don't know who said that but it is exactly my feeling.

If a "poor" man can afford a loaded XKR Convertible for 100K, I'll gladly take on that role and will be proud to be labeled as such.

If i had 100K to spen on a car i pass the jag for sure and get myself a nice caymen or carrera S instead,anyway i think he ment it's the car for those dying for an AM but can't afford it so they got the closet thing to it.

Well 100K is a extreme example of a XKR I saw at a dealer last summer. It had all types of wheel and other upgrades, most of them don't ring up that high. I wouldn't spend 100K on a Jag either.

Oh a SL550 can run from 100-112K depending on options. They start at 97K.

In my hometown there is a brand new red XK Convertible and it looks damn good.

This guy also own a Viper, 911 Carrera, CL600, Bentley Contiental and a Carrera GT.

Both the XK Coupe and Convertible are amongst the most beautiful cars I've laid eyes on. SL 500 vs. XKR Convertible? No contest - the XK gets my money.

As good as the SL is, there's always been a clinical competence devoid of any emotional appeal surrounding the non-AMG models. The XK tugs at my heartstrings in a way that no SL 500 ever could.

Well u can always get ur SL500 with AMG kit and IMO that is gonna be much better car than the XKR.

What I (and Clarkson) wanted to say is that this XK really looks like an Aston, but isn't an Aston. Not very surprising, Ian Callum designed both from what I remeber. But it is not my taste at all. Why making it looking like a slightly heavier Aston? The original Aston still looks better, and tít has lost the Jaguar feeling. Would take an XF over the XK for that reason.

I much preferred the previous generation of XK, with a real Jaguar look. And I saw both IRL, even side by side.

An SL looks a lot better, at least for me.

The photo quality isn't that good.

I wonder why they're driving a SL280 in Michigan since we aren't going to get anything smaller than the 500/550 model.

Oh yes the scene may be Cali, but I was going by the license plate, a Michigan distributor's plate.
