Now you know why exotic supercars are not needed in BMW model portfolio: because models like this one (1er tii) have much greater effect on the brand image.

"More affordable" performance cars for enthusiasts - not some exotic supercars for über-rich car collectors.

And BMW will stick to this strategy also in the future.

Will the 2.0 turbo also make it s way to the hatch?

One thing.

240hp 4cil turbo. In the 80s they already had 238 hp out of an atmo. To sell a 4 cil turbo you need hp close or over 300hp to sell it. New subaru has 308 hp Evo s have 280hp. At bmw you need 6cil turbo to get those numbers Why?

because a bmw engine is not strung up like saddam's noose so as to have your engine blow up after 3 years of use
that's why
there are far more consideration than just turboing an engine to hell to get power figures
look at the 3.0 turbo pumping "only 306h," while their DI 3.0 is pumping close to 270 without turbo, it's about engine characteristics and durability

N54 engine has still A LOT of reserve! 306HP is only the first step!
