As if the car wasn't hot already.


That's a seriously seductive piece of machinery. The rims and interior are pure perfection and visually it almost shames the 130i in Le Mans blue. It's only a shame that power has been restricted to a mere 265hp. A 0-100km/h spring close to 5.9-6.1sec would have been perfect, but it isn't a problem as long as this car comes at a respectable price.

Cool car, but I think the Golf GTi/R is better looking.

The Scirocco seems to have struck an unexpected demo here in Stockholm - as a second car for the wife or as a midlife crisis vehicle.

Awesome - I'd have one.

Don't y'all find it interesting that VW have opted to use the old generation DI engine from the MK V GTI instead of the newer EA888 engine because, according to VW, it is more readily tunable?

But it's shame they didn't call it the "Storm" like they did with the original Scirocco.

I think VW are telling porkies here. The EA888 engine is fundamentally the same engine with just a different architecture. At the end of the day whether its a ea888 the pistons, turbo etc are all the same and will give the same power output.

A 211bhp ea888 2.0T will remap to around 260bhp just as the older 2.0t will.

The ea888 should really be better for tuning, as its design is different in there is no cam follower which rubs against the cam shaft which can wear down the cam follower and end upo scratching up the cam shaft. This design flaw can mean expensive repair bills if one who has modified his car doesnt periodically check his cam follower. Thankfully a cam follower is only a 20 pound part.

But who knows, VW should know more about their engines than anyone else, but then at the end of the day the marketing men and bean counters seem to alwazs have the final say.

Look at this damn thing...just sick.


Since they feel the GTI and Golf R will be threatened, just limit the Scirocco to just the R trim level and give it a modest boost in power and equipment over the Golf R. Price will keep it from displacing the Golf R and GTI.

What a stunner. A testament that VW can be sexy. It would fare quite well on the US market but would undo all efforts VW have put into convincing American citizens that hatchback Golf is a cool car.
