I've read a few posts over at Audiworld where a few members said they've spotted the R8, I thought "no way", but anything is possible.

So I'm on the 101 eastbound last night @ around 5:40pm or so going to visit family friends in Sherman Oaks when two lanes over and about three car lenghts ahead is a silver R8 on "18 wheels!!! It was amazing to see the R8 out in the wild flexing it's muscles. What was really interesting though is that I was able to spot the car at a distance, the lines are unmistakable. I know people driving around the car had to be thinking to themselves "what in the hell is that thing, that car is hott!!!". I can only imagine what the R8 is going to do image wise for not only the world but especially here in the states. Big-ups to Audi for hitting the nail on the head w/ this one, there could never be a car more perfect in every single way. Roll on A5...

I'm gonna check out the audi dealer in newport and see if they have an R8 there. I want to see that beast.

SPOTTED AGAIN TODAY!!! The story of my life... spotting these cars, but this time I got more than just looking at the car, I got to talk w/ it's driver, an Audi electrical engineer. He filled me in w/ some very interesting information.

It happened as I was leaving Barnes and Noble in Westlake Village, walking back towards my car; all of the sudden I hear this car rev up and soon as I look in the direction of the noise I see the silver R8, LED lights in full effect right in front of me whipping into a parking space. I was floored when I saw the car pulling in, even more anxious to get up close, and I did. Now this is the same car I've been referring to from the beginning of this thread. So as I walk up closer, the driver opens the door and I stopped him to ask a few questions and chat about Audi and the R8. The guy was UBER COOL, his name is Holger (sp? He was German, obviously), he works out of the testing and development department for Audi somewhere in Ventura. He gave me a few other locations of where various Audi departments are locally, none of which I already didn't know about. He said he's testing the R8's electrical systems, mainly the navigation system to ensure that it works up to standard. He says his job is to spend as much time testing the electrical systems as much as possible while behind the wheel to see how they work in real world conditions. I told him that he has quite frankly, "the best job in the world", he laughed in agreement and said he enjoys what he does quite a bit. I also relayed to him that I might be seeing him in the future as an Audi employee, he asked what is my area of study and I told him marketing, "you should switch to engineering, we're looking for more test drivers here in the states, there's an opening or two". As much as I'd love to be a tester, marketing and engineering are worlds apart, and I don't want to have to restart half of my college education with only a year and a half to go before graduation. We chatted about the A5, said that it's the more "realistic Audi for me", since the R8 is a touch out of reach for me at the present He said there are four A5 prototypes running about here in SoCal, so I'll be extra vigilant to keep my eyes peeled for what may be lurking the streets...

You don't have to worry about restarting your college education, you'll need to restart your legs the next time you get up close to with a R8 and don't take pic #1!!

Oh I did take pics alright... they're in my phone. I currently don't have pic messaging service but I'll change that briefly just to get the pics up here... be paitent will probably not be until mid week or so..
