You are right though about the cars, but that is stupid to say that people in his country are dying cause of lack of food. seriously man, if you been to Bunei, you will never see poor people walking on the street begging for money or homeless people for that matter! There is NO TAX, FREE EDUCATION, FREE MEDICINE, OIL IS WAY CHAPER THAN UR COUNTRY, and best of all, NO BIG CRIMES IN BRUNEI!!! I know this for a fact because im a BRUNEIAN and food here in Brunei is plenty. so BACKOFF!!!

His F50, one of the few RHD's (if not the only) F50 in the world was been auctioned by Coys in England. The car has many special features, and was owned (confirmed) by the Sultan.

On F-Chat we were unsure if it had sold, but a member claims to have seen it at Verdi Ferrari, so were pretty sure it was.

As others have said, Brunei's native population live a fantastic life - there is no poverty. The minimum wage is something silly like over $80,000 a year. There is NO unemployment - everyone is found something to do.

The best bit is the education - you can study at any college or university you want, anywhere in the world, and all study & living expenses are paid for by the government.

I can't remember which country most come from, but the immigrant labour aren't so well paid, but, the wages they do get are much better than in their native country & if I remember rightly, they all get free education & health.

About the cars... how ridiculous you might think, and I'd agree, but, the Sultan has a huge extended family & massive entourage, most of these cars are driven regularly by many different people. There was a documentary on the BBC years ago, the Sultan has very few cars which he only drives - we talking the serious exotica stuff, but the rest are available to any of his massive inner circle. We are talking over a thousand family, friends, guests, personal staff & security and senior officials all over the world, who have access to his various international car pools...

...remember, these cars aren't all in one place, he has many many homes, or should I say palace's, all over the world, and many cars at each place.

Bentley have 20 or so engineers permanently based in Brunei just to look after his Bentley's !!!

Like others have said, this list is way old - he has much more than that now.

So, while I can't pretend to comprehend the life-style, reasoning and motive behind this seemingly bizarre situation, if the documentary I saw is anything to go by, the vast majority of these cars aren't really in a private collection, they are a part of the world greatest international car-pool, for the fortunate chosen ones.

Just to make those oil sultans poor, I'd wish we stop using oil in the west.

Let's see how well they'll do in their desert when the oil becomes worthless.

Some of them, such as the Bentley Silverstone, are crass and confirms that money cannot buy good taste.

The Pininfarina XJ220 was also..........................not very nice.

2 weeks ago all the senior government officials such as ministers, got a new fleet of mercedes benz s600, s500, s350 and e250. all black. all go zoom zoom around brunei.

some pics of one of the 2 black Mclaren F1 LM's have re-surfaced. These pics were taken while the car was being built and just before delivery.

This guy has a staggering collection, but I'd bet most of his cars probably don't get driven a lot... Several colours of one car is ridiculous. Waste of money, but there are some nice cars.
