No need for thanks or nothing. I just say what I feel too, so honesty is a plus. I don't believe you are stupid, thus I didn't call you stupid, I called you ignorant. Ignorance just means that you are ill informed about the topic you are arguing on. It seems that you have hit upon an illumination and I'm glad I (and sunny) could help. In all honesty, everyone in the world is in some state of ignorance, thus the reason we wage wars.

I've seen those videos. I'm not too fond of Lexus IS-F. I've driven the Lexus IS350Sport and it's quite fun to drive and dare I say on par with 3er unless you take it to the track. The IS-F is a let down though, they went the old AMG route which is "Let's give it a bigger engine, it's sure to be faster."

The AMG route... Hmmm... I think we can see it not only between the IS-F and the current M3, but also between the C63 and the E92 M3. More power and more torque. Of course it will surely be faster--on the straight road. Getting through the corners is a different story... It is a different discipline as we all know it. But that is not to say that AMG and Lexus are not good cars to own.

I don't like the IS-F, mainly because of the bodykit.
But honestly, as a first attempt at power-sedans... it's a truly impressive achievment.

You got me wrong here. I'm not saying that F-brand guys are copying current AMG. What I'm saying is they are going with AMG's old philosophy. The new AMG philosophy actually has more to do with driving dynamics than just straight up engine power. So, IS-F has entered a new era with old world thinking.

I don't like the body kit either. The car does sound pretty good in person though, loud and thunderous. I would say it's a pretty good try for first timers, but then again, it is aimed at their customers.

I have some question. But this is just a plain question ok? Take a look at this one first:

Porsche Carrera GT vs Nissan GT-R - FastestLaps.com

This one:

Ascari A10 vs Nissan GT-R - FastestLaps.com

And, this one:

McLaren F1 vs Nissan GT-R - FastestLaps.com

Now for the question. If the GTR really was faster, why was it not able to beat those three cars in all areas? Share us your thoughts, comments, insights, etc.

I prefer to drive a German car for various reasons such as fun factor, stiffer, more solid feel (and I mean ten-plus years later as well) and fit and finish to name a very few. Even a VW Golf is vastly more fun to drive than a Honda Civic.

I prefer a Japanese car if I want low cost, trouble free driving over the life of the car. Mind you, I haven't owned any German car long enough to say they are any less reliable; all I can go on are what you find in reports.

I've driven a couple of upper end Japanese cars. Very nice, but they lack something. I'd buy a 328 Ci before I buy a Lexus IS 350.

Well you asked.

These stat comparos are for someone I know who thinks the best car is one with the best numbers.

It may be the best car from traffic light to traffic light and for those who are length challenged, but who cares.

Wouldn't you sooner drive a car that you actually love; one that you've dreamed about owning?

I'd still go for the Carrera GT, even if it were slower than the Nissan.

Just the fact that you're comparing Supercars that cost over $400K to a car that costs less than $80K and also the fact that the GT-R was designed to be livable and drivable daily, unlike the others...well, that proves the point some were trying to make doesn't it? Even the "comparison" that you've put on here is sad because the time gap is no where large enough that a GT-R driver couldn't win by driver error.

You, and many others, can hate on the GT-R as much as you'd like, but it seriously has kicked everyone's ass and did it in a way EVERYONE thought couldn't be done.

I'm a german car fan, but I have to give credit were credit is due. The GT-R is a beast and a slap (more like punch) in the face to many.
The good news is, it will force the rest to up their game.

It's a damn shame that a japanese car has to get involved for the rest of the world to finally get a hint. I still remember how game changing the NSX was. It pretty much kicked Ferrari in the balls and everyone was fumbling to respond.

German cars don't have throttle pedals that get stuck...

How ironic that they used a Jetta in the end... the car they said it was the most unreliable car on sale in USA... Volkswagen FTW!!!

Thanks for the video Kowalski! Very nice. I gotta try it in my car. I am curious about if the brake pedal overrides the gas pedal.

BTW, in such a situation, it is totally clear, the supremacy of a manual trasmission over an automatic one. An automatic transmission can get stuck, and not go into neutral, while on a manual transmission car, you have complete control on the clutch! So, it's much safer!

In case you are driving an automatic car with a stuck throttle pedal, you just move the gear lever into neutral; the engine will over rev, but it won't send power to the wheels and of course with the engine still running, it means you still have control over the steering and the brakes to bring the car to a halt.

But, if I am not mistaken, in automatic transmissions, the gear lever isn't physically connected to the gearbox. It sends a message to the transmission proccessor, and it then sends a message to the transmission, to change gear, or put it in neutral. What if all that sequence jams, and even though you put it in N, the transmission, doesn't respond?

In manual transmission cars, the gear lever is physically connected to the transmission, so unless you crack your gears, you have total control over it.

edit; the biggest minus of an automatic transmission, is not the absence of a clutch pedal, but the fact that you cannot heel'n'toe or doubleclutch a shift
