I'm surprised to see Corolla first... frankly I expected the Golf to be 1st.

I guess I must not have been paying attention over the last several years and maybe even decades, I would have expected the Beetle to have been at the top.

As time passes the old Beetle really starts looking more and more beautiful and special.

Anyhow, I did know that the Corollas are very reliable and great cars. No doubt excellent value for the money.

Sure the Corolla would be first..... Just think who is the number 1 car maker "on earth".

Toyota Corolla: One million and growing - drive.com.au
Toyota Corolla sales reach 1 million in Australia

Corolla has been a hot seller for a long time. Of course I wonder (even after working for toyota) why people buy the car, but it's cheap, long lasting and just right for getting back and forth to work without a big gas bill.

Re: Top 5 World’s Most Successful Cars Ever

Does anybody know if the study includes both the NA and the World versions of the Corolla. I could swear they're different, even stylistically.

And the F-Series impresses me because I don't think it's really sold outside of NA, so it's selling by the boatload here.

Looking back at those Corollas Toyota had better be glad they're so reliable because my god they're just about the worst looking lineup of cars ever also.

Re: Top 5 World’s Most Successful Cars Ever

Lol bmer, that video is hilarious. It makes me slightly embarassed to have had Corollas for the past 15 years. I don't know what all the stick is with Corolla's- at least the modern ones. It just depends what model you get. We have the facelifted version of the Corolla in the picture, and we chose it because we preferred it to the Golf. The car wasn't bought just because it's reliable but because I prefer its looks to the Golf (keep in mind I'm talking about bog standard 1.6 models, not R32s here!) and because the interior has a much more premium feel to it. Everyone who sits in it comments on how it feels like its an interior from a more luxurious brand. Maybe I'm just biased...

Amo, if you have compared and test drived different cars in that segment and after that chose the car that felt best for you, then you have made the right choice.

See how they tried to get whiteys to do the break dancing stuff. Disturbingly cheesy. Artist is spot on.

As for Corolla, its contribution to reliable motoring the world over is immeasurable.

Very true. Corolla is propably the most important model in Toyota's developing process for mass production of reliable cars.

lol! I was wondering the same thing! Boring style, I would say.

The Corolla may have been the #1 selling car worldwide for decades, but lets not forget the fact that we are talking here about 10 generations of a car. That means that throughout all these years, the car has been redesigned many times and, most importantly, the sales figures include also the sedan, liftback and station wagon versions, not only the hatchback. The original VW Beetle has kept its original design almost the same from the beginning of its production until the end of it in 2003. Selling over 21,500,000 cars worldwide, it is considered by many as the world's most succesfull car ever.
