Top Gear or 5th Gear?

ok! which do you all prefer, top gear or fifth gear? i prefer top gear by miles! the more i watch fifth gear the more i hate it....everything fifth gear do is some sort of copy of top gear...like the fastest laps, yet the fifth gear fastest laps are retarded, if any of you saw yesterdays they managed to make a CLS55 and some Jaguar go slower than a honda civic and a ford focus on the lap time board...***!!!!!......it was tiff needell who thinks he is like the best lol.....yet on every corner he was just like trying to power slide the CLS and jaguar and make them go sideways....and then i dont know if any of you remember the top gear where clarkson drove an slk55 and a boxster around an army base and people pretended to shoot at him......fifth gear a couple of weeks ago.......guess what, an aston martin and jason plato driving around a track with people pretending to shoot at him.........how original!!!!! then jason plato calls night vision in the s class a "gimmick" because he does not know it does not work when stationary????????? *** wow i hate the program now for all them reasons...i could go on for ever.....i just was wondering though what everyone else thought of the two shows!!

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

I like Top Gear way better because of the ore informative reviews, better filming and consistant lap times. I like 5th gear better because Tiff doesnt complain about every car he gets in. Clarkson is kind of whiney. but yea Top gear over 5th gear any day.

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

I actually find 5th gear more informative, it may be boring, but atleast it gets you to the point. I kinda dislike JC's tastless humour. And their reviews, as much as i love all the drama in their reviews, they just dont say much. New RS4 video?? was a blast !! but didnt inform me much.

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

Top Gear is more fun but Tiff is a better driver than Jeremy. Also Tiff appreciate BMW more than Jeremy. That's a big plus

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

I suppose Top Gear's the better package. I think Tiff is a great guy and fun to watch and whenever the delectable Miss Butler-Henderson opens her mouth the hairs on the back of my neck rise up... but Jason Plato is not the most radiant personality. I also think that Fifth Gear should try to be a bit more original.

omg dont even mention vicky butler henderson the silly ho!! she is so annoying! do you all remember quentin wilson from top gear like 5 years ago! he loved mercedes!! lol!

the only thing i have against top gear is all them like train / plane / boat races they did were a fix yet each time they tried to say it was not....
and......clarkson is a hypocrit kind of (not that i mind) - if you watch the CLS55 review from top gear he says he wouldnt but as it is a mercedes and they have quality problems....(yet the CLS is built rather well....)
but........his last 2 cars......SL55 AMG and now a SLK55 AMG? ***....if they have quality problems then why did he buy them? lol but appart from that yea top gear rules!!

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

I like 5th Gear but I LOVE top gear, especially JC's sarcasm. Personally I have no problem with him bitching about every car he sits in, that how it should be. There is hardly any car that is perfect and it is good of him to point out both the negative and the positive sides of the car. Off course he does a lot of ass talk but that just makes the show a bit more to see. On top of that I love the way Top gear films the car, the lightning, angles and scenery that they film in are perfect. Top Gear is with out a doubt a fantastic show. Still people should be ware of the fact that JC ia human just like me and has opinions so not every thing he says about a specific car is law.

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

Sure, TG videos have more quality in them as in lighting, angle and such. But I feel JC emphasises on his opinion more than Tiff. I dunno. thats just me. and i also feel JC is more biased than tiff.

oh and tiff burns rubber

EDIT: BTW Plato is not that bad. I know hes boring, but I kinda like it when him and tiff race. hes not a bad driver after all.

I remember going to British Touring Cup Championship this year and he was impressive nonetheless

Yeah JC does spit out a lot of his own opinions but he also does give alot of facts and it's up to the viewer to separate the opinions from the facts.

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

I agree with you all that JC can run his mouth a lot but he crossed the line when he reviewed the M6. He really did. Do you guys know what happened?
Long story short, Richard said the M6 will run 0-60 in 4.5 or something like that. JC said it is impossible because you have to press all these buttons to have max power and blah blah blah (usual b.itching about Idrive).
So Richard presses all the buttons that needs to be pressed (Power, EDC, SMG) but JC says he still has to go to Idrive and adjust everything.
Two things. Idrive is only to adjust what happens when you press the Mbutton. Second thing is that if you just press those 3 buttons that's that, it's done.

Instead, JC kind of lied to the audience imo which actually really pissed me off. He can at least try to learn how the thing works before testing it. Instead, he made it look more complicated than it should have been. If anything, I prefer watching Richard and James review the cars.

The other thing about Top Gear... what's up with all the beach races?! Why would you have a 911, Aston Martin and M6 race on a wet beach? Sure it's entertaining to watch, but what does that prove?

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

Yeah man the false claims from JC are a bit annoying.. but its all fun..
For example they showed the W221 crash that Tv test from germany.. but he didnt mention anything about the reasons behind it.. but ohh well its all fun

Thank you, I thought I was the only one going insane about that. Too bad he spent over half of the thing dissing the technology and looks and then in the end he says it's Epic... why not start with that?
Top gear is definitely the most entertaining to watch though because it's a bigger budget than 5th gear.

It's really funny how hard they try to make a British car look good on that show... they didn't do laptimes on the Ascari because it was raining outside so they waited until it was dry.
I didn't see them do that for M3 CSL

It was mildly confusing because when you look at the Power Board, the Ariel Atom, which is British, is third on the ladder, yet they totally overlooked it.

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

Tiff is obviously a better driver (he was a professional racer after all) than Jeremy although JC has gotten much better since the show started. 5th Gear is kind of stale though and Top Gear is much more entertaining by far. If I wanted concrete info, I don't need to watch a TV show. The point of the show is that it's mostly entertaining.

As for comparing the track times between the two shows, both sound like crap. Top Gear runs cars in all different conditions, so times should be taken with a bushel of salt. I mean an RS4 being faster than a Gallardo? That's how you know it's bogus.

Thats more like a gocart though. They would rather have a real brit up there. You know they're brit biased when they compare a 300C to a X type R. Come on! At least compare an SRT 8. The X type R is like 13k more!!

dont forget they also changed the driver. it seems that the new Stig is faster and better than the old one.

No its not that, he wants to diss techology let him diss it. but not say the same thing for a million times, he already dissed Idrive before, so he actually wasted his and the viewers time saying what he said ages ago. Im just using common sense here.

Re: Top Gear or 5th Gear?

I prefer 5th gear just because of Tiff. I'm a real fan from his Top Gear days and I reckon he's one of the most gifted journalists behind the wheel of a car. VBH is ok - she doesn't bug me too much. I also prefer the 5th test track venue and the car vs. car shoot-outs they do.
