Not that I know of, I just honestly just made it up. Considering he is Mustang pusher it is possible.

I drive my parents's Seat Arosa and Seat Alhambra. Both are FWD.

Re: POLL: What Drivetrain Layout in the car that you *own*?

Thanks for all the votes folks. 37 votes isn't quite a runaway success in terms of volumes but it's a start...

It's interesting to see that it's the regular clan that are participating... I'm amazed at how much passion you have.

To the rest of you - please vote and please do so honestly.

On another note I'm astonished to see the results sitting neck and neck between FWD and RWD. This is an interestingly different result compared to the statistics of overall automotive sales - where the majority of cars sold are FWD (at least here in SA, the UK, Japan and Europe).

I don't know about Australia - I expect that sales of Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons gain back some ground on the FWD sales - and as for the US, again I'm unsure...

Still, I do find this a fascinating topic and I'd love to see meaningful stats (both global and local as well as GCZ specific) for comparative purposes.

Here are the latest figure i can get hold of, i will get the latest one when i buy the magazine on friday. These figures are from Feb 2007

You are right, the Holden Commodore (5544 sales) has taken back the top of the sales chart from the Toyota Corolla (3591 sales). The Ford Falcon is 3rd (3086 sales), follow by the Mazda 3 (3014 sales). The Holden and the Ford are the only 2 RWD cars in the top 20 sales list on Feb.

Interesting! Thanks Monster...

How are the top 3 compact SUVs doing; RAV4, CR-V, Forester doing compared to the rest of the market?

The new CR-V was introduced after Feb so i don't have the figure yet but i have seen a lot of them on the road so they are very popular. Only 2 compact SUV made it in the top 20 list. coming 19 is the Nissan X-Trail with 1112 sales, 20th belongs to the RAV4, with 1110 sales.

Re: POLL: What Drivetrain Layout in the car that you *own*?

Thanks, that's interesting; last time I looked (admittedly a while back) the Forester was in the top 3. So X-Trail makes it into the top 3 of the compact SUV market in Oz.

A little off-topic but relevant nonetheless...

The FWD curse has awakened! LOL j/k

Thankfully, he seems to have dropped that idea. I told him to stay away from the B-Class. Too small and crap handling.

Re: POLL: What Drivetrain Layout in the car that you *own*?

I have to add that 4/5 of the cars in my immidiate family are FWD
-Volvo S60 -> FWD (mine)
-Renault Clio -> FWD (mine)
-Volvo XC90 -> AWD (dad's)
-Renault Laguna -> FWD (dad's)
-Renault Megane CC -> FWD (sister's new car)

+Peugeot 206 -> FWD (girlfriend's, soon fiance's)

So, we are a Renault and Volvo and FWD fans in my family...

Hmm, how should I choose this...

Quattroporte - RWD

Phaeton - AWD

Jazz - FWD

I think I'll choose AWD.

Sigh...FWD as well.

2004 Acura TSX/Euro Honda Accord.

I've owned both RWD and FWD cars but hopfully soon I'll be jumping ship to the AWD camp...want to buy a B4 A4 soon.

Re: POLL: What Drivetrain Layout in the car that you *own*?

Snakes alive! 50 percent of members on this forum drive a rear-wheel drive car? I'm astounded. And altogether a little sceptical as to the empirical value of this poll...

I would have expected the figures to be swopped around between FWD and RWD.
