I reckon the Volkswagen Phaeton has the best car interior in the world. It's beautifully crafted with fine materials and lovely subtle design. It's a beautiful looking car too. The Phaeton is by far the most presidential looking car, out of all the three German luxury limos. The reason why it didn't make better success, is because people these days are just too damn superficial, and they judge a car from the badge and not the merits of it. | |

The A8 however is built on a ASF (Audi Space Frame). Its entire chassis is aluminium and therefore it is a much lighter car than the Phaeton. This weight advantage makes it more sporty and agile than the Phaeton... If I were to see any differentiation for the A8/Phaeton, it would be that the A8 is more for the sporty driver while the Phaeton is more for the relaxed driver. The A8 also features its own MMI, while the Phaeton's multimedia interface was developed alongside the Continental series of Bentley. Hence, you can see similar radio, satnav as well as computer graphics and animations in the Phaeton and the Conti Bentleys. The A8 uses Quattro and VW uses 4MOTION - I've read before somewhere that it is essentially the same thing, but I could be wrong. The Phaeton's V8 is identical to the one found in the A8 4.2, and so is the W12. Hope that helped somewhat. phaeton can chip in more. Quote:

| Re: Phaeton Edition 5 If I were truly in a position to do so I'd get a nice 2005 Phaeton coming back off a lease late this year. It really can't be beat for the prices I'm seeing. I mean think about this, a new V6 Passat for about 34-36K for a 2005 Phaeton V8 for the same money. Warranty and service are the only things to think about with the larger Vee-dub. I want a VAG product for my second car, something I don't have to suffer with during tricky winter driving like I have this year! I want either a used S4 or Phaeton, but reality says it will be a new Jetta. M
