As you can see the earliest possible launch year of 9er is year 2012 - if they give a project a gren light this Fall. So, 6 years from now.

Now go 6 years back in your mind - in Fall 2000 - and remember BMW position then and today. A quantum leap.

So ... 6 years is a long period. Who knows ... maybe in 6 years people will be willing to pay even €200k for a bimmer.

Hello, you're forgeting the taxation policies of each country.
In some countries a BMW 7er reaches the 225 000 dollars barier. At 170 k you can only buy something like an entry level. Hell, that's not even the worst case scenario. In some countries it goes over the 400 k barier.

Re: BMW 9-series (Premium Luxury Sedan: Projekt PLS)

well who cares about other countries..im talking about sweden and germany..
im saying i wont buy a bimmer that is for sale in germany for 170-200K euro..
now you can sit and add upp the nr´s by yourself.
and get to what the price will be all over the world for such a car..

Yes, I get your point, but for most countries the prices in Germany, Sweden, not to mention the USA, are not valid (= BMWs cost more).
Honestly, I'm against a 9 series or paying more than 125 k USD on a bimmer, but that's not the way things work.
So you sweeds enjoy them cheap bimmers.
And hopefully BMW will buy AM.

Sorry for what? Being unable to buy such a car??? Don't be.

Just to let you know, we already have a BMW here on sale in Holland that costs 170k EURO fully loaded (760, M6 cabrio), and people actually want to spend this kind of money for a BMW....wierd huh?

I don't know what your point again is Artist. You wouldn't buy a BMW for this kind of money if you had the $$, but you would buy a MB with it....wow, big news break!!!!

Re: BMW 9-series (Premium Luxury Sedan: Projekt PLS)

Concerning the idea of a 9-Series (8-Series would be a better name imo), it is a brilliant idea.
This is what BMW should do, a "CLS" based on the 7-Series, but more luxurious, more expensive... A Concept CS...That is a car that could bring a lot to the line-up (unlike the F5 but that's another problem).

Just do it!!!

(PS, There are serious rumours that Mercedes would do the same kind of cars.)

Ok, thanks for the explanation. I guess some of us were expecting some new info on this project. Perhaps we didn't get the reason because Eni posted this now and not when CS was presented or after it was officially confirmed that BMW will do a model based on it.

Hehe ...

klier is right. I just wanted to point out Scott had gave us the info on GT sedan way before CS Concept was shown, and production confirmed by BMW CEO.

Why now? No real reason ... Just found this old thread, and want to remind you about that fact.

That's nice of you, Eni. Scott has recently been refered to mostly in a negative way by some members so it's always good to remember how much valuable information he has shared with us.

Well, I just want to point out that you Beemers are really lucky to have someone like Scott...or EnI...
They give you very valuable information about your brands and its future, give precious indications on the design/specifications of future models...Explain the reasons of some moves...

Very lucky, really. Too bad I am not a Beemer fan...
But kudos to them.
Scott, EnI, .
