| Re: Preview: 2009 BMW four-door GT (UPDATE: Project Cancelled as of 11/2008) It is not too difficult to fathom such a car as I announced previously the design concept internally known as WRAITH. To accomodate the RR04 , the RR Thread has been cleaned so I cannot really find the evidence but it was there. Indeed there are plans to utilise the chassis of the RR04 to increase models underneath the Phantom and a four door Coupe was part of the competition to devise new models under the RR04. An SUV was eradicated because we definitely do not want to go down that road but traditional Coupe , DropHead Coupe and Sedan will feature to emulate the Phantom product line with the possibility of a Rolls-Royce roadster either featuring a soft top or folding roof and the Wraith. But as of yet the only models confirmed for production are the sedan , Coupe and DropHead Coupe. Initial reaction to the concept car of the RR04 will showcase several points on how further the RR04 can go with teasers the first one already with the release of the sketches , The second (something involving shadows but not a reveal) will commence in January prior to the unveiling on the first day of the Geneva Autoshow (no press release before hand) . it is going to be an absolute world premiere. |

| Re: Preview: 2009 BMW four-door GT (UPDATE: Project Cancelled as of 11/2008) This is not a concept CS revival, because BMW fans, and me, want to see the actual very beautiful BMW CS design be produced, not a smaller rolls. The RR can't have similar design to the CS concept - so that gorgeous design is dead. Pitty how all scorching hot BMW designs don't get to production (CS, M1 Hommage...) not to mention the CSL project. |

| Re: Preview: 2009 BMW four-door GT (UPDATE: Project Cancelled as of 11/2008) Please God, Please let that be true ![]() I think there is a big enough market and enough profit margin in this category to let Porsche, Aston Martin and Lamborghini introduce their versions of a high end four door coupe (above CLS and A7), to finally convince BMW that they should too introduce their version, not to mention that I believe the CS design is the most beautiful (IMO of course, at least), and it would still be a major image booster for BMW (I know It doesn't NEED it, but why the hell not????), AND I hope BMW is trying to listen to it's enthusiasts and buyers. |

| Re: Preview: 2009 BMW four-door GT (UPDATE: Project Cancelled as of 11/2008) AND I hope BMW is trying to listen to it's enthusiasts and buyers. They don t. People talking all over the internet about how heavy bmw are. Even de M power models. What do they build X5M and X6M and the new Z4 is heavier again. I hope with you but i think we have not a big change they listen. I think bmw is going to build army cars and tanks for the future. Lightweight cars which you can enjoy driving is not at bmw anymore. |

The design for RR 4dr coupe is far from being finalized. I was told although BMW GT project had been ready to begin the initial testing when BMW Board of Directors decided not to offer this car under BMW but under RR badge. Of course RR design is far from being ready; the design process has just begun ... But the BMW-like CS prototypes are starting the testings as scheduled - until RR design is ready. My birdies also say to expect the silhouette of the RR-badged car to be similar to CS Concept. So will be the tech & the dimensions. The design details incl tail, front, side body panels, interior etc will be different though. PS: on 11/4 BMW CEO said the following: "The sharper focus on profitability will result, amongst other things, in product decisions being revisited. As a result, the BMW Group will no longer produce a series version of the Concept CS since this vehicle does not meet the internal requirements for rates of return." And this is still certain.

| Re: Preview: 2009 BMW four-door GT (UPDATE: Project Cancelled as of 11/2008) The problem is that a Rolls 4 door coupe isn't exactly the CS concept, not in styling, not in handeling and not in soul. WE WANT THE CS CONCEPT. IF PORSCHE, ASTON AND LAMBORGHINI WILL MAKE A CAR LIKE THIS, WHY SHOULDN'T BMW ???? They practically have the design. They have the technology, and they have the engines, since they can put the TT V8, the next V12 BMW powerplant, or the powerplant from the baby rolls, or the M V10 engine I don't think it's TOO difficult for BMW to produce the CS. |

Of course BMW have the know-how to produce such a car but ... Porsche, Aston, Lambo are higher positioned brands and can justify high prices. Pricey BMWs are not very in demand at all. Especially not in the quantities to make the project profitable enough. Gran Turismo project was a marketing project - to boost the luxury image of BMW brand. The project was not profitable at all - but it was more a marketing investment / expenditure. And due the crisis such project was too costly to company - so it's frozen. RR vs BW 4dr coupe: as said ... almost identical project (except the design) will get a €250k price tag under the RR badge, while under BMW badge the car would be priced at approx. €150k (at almost the same production capacity). See the difference? 250k vs 150k! The only problem I see: F01 features less flamboyant exterior due to the fact the new flagship (4dr GT) was in plan - with a more exciting design. Kind a 7er's sporty alter ego. Now the GT is put on ice the F01 is a bit ... too restrained & alone w/o its alter ego. IMO BMW should therefore offer an "CS" version of F01 (eg. 755i CS) instead - with CS Concept-like nose, and the same engine featured in X6 M, lowered suspension & default Sport+ driving program. Such car would be much cheaper to produce & would be therefore more profitable than special 4dr coupe. ![]()

| Re: Preview: 2009 BMW four-door GT (UPDATE: Project Cancelled as of 11/2008) These cars were flops! BMW sold them much less then initially expected. Another blow to the attempt to position BMW badge higher with model priced higher then 7er. BMW misses AM-like badge in their portfolio a lot. An ultra-prestigious luxury-sports brand. Eg. Bentley, Jaguar, Aston Martin. |

BMW have filed for registration of CS trademark recently. Which is strange since CS Concept is already an old prototype. Unless there will be some special model version badged "CS" (like M, CSL or tii). ![]() Btw, I wouldn't be surprised to see CS Concept-like nose on some special 7er version (being that ActiveHybrid, iS, M, CS, tii or whatsoever).
