| Re: Hyundai unveils Genesis sedan I really have nothing to add to this conversation that has not already be said (great analysis of the design from Marcus and Josh BTW) .....I must say though that my general impression is this is a high-quality product -- the details all look very well finished -- that, at least, deserves respect.

| Re: Hyundai unveils Genesis sedan Hyundai has some decisions to make. It seems the company's decision makers can't decide which grille design they're going to go with on its new luxury sedan, the 2009 Hyundai Genesis. Right now they have two to choose from, and they're both being displayed on the Detroit auto show floor. Wheels, too. Notice the wheels on the red car are different from the wheels on the black car in the photo Hyundai sent us just last week. According to Wayne Killen, Hyundai's director of product planning, he and his team are gathering opinions over the next few days, but Hyundai could end up using either, both or neither design. Personally, I like the funky grille without the Hyundai badge and sportier-looking wheels on the black car. Tell me, which do you like better? -- Scott Oldham, Inside Line Editor in Chief Straightline - 2008 Detroit Auto Show: 2009 Hyundai Genesis Has Two Grilles and Two Wheels This is the kind of nonsense you get when you don't have anything to draw on but your competitor's styling. Could you imagine a German, Japanese, British or American luxury car company not knowing which grille to use and showing both of them at an autoshow? IMO, the first grille looks the best, but it needs the H symbol from the second grille intergrated into it somehow. Either way the car is handsome if the most contrived thing since the first generation LS400. M

| Re: Hyundai unveils Genesis sedan It's official. After gauging public reaction, Hyundai has decided not to slap on the automaker's swoopy "H" logo onto the Genesis sedan's front grille. Two versions of the sedan were on display in Detroit, one with the aforementioned badge prominently placed in the center of the fascia and the other, which has been around since the introduction of the Genesis Concept, sporting the krill-grille sans logo. We're evenly divided about which looks better, but the general consensus is that the debadged front end had more of an upscale air. Speaking with Automotive News, Hyundai's vice president of product development, John Krafic, said that Hyundai is expecting about 20-percent of buyers to opt for the 4.6-liter V8. Interestingly, Krafic said that cylinder deactivation and direct injection could be added on future models and that a supercharger could find its way under the hood to boost performance. No word on when either of these features would be added to the Genesis after it goes on sale this summer. No Hyundai logo on Genesis grille, supercharger may be coming in the future - Autoblog M

| Re: Hyundai unveils Genesis sedan Wow, I guess those videos say it all. This car will be a hit! Not a fan of the Infiniti-like interior design, very crappy but I could still live with it. The body design isn`t bad though.

| Re: Hyundai unveils Genesis sedan Laugh at me if you want but I'm loving this car and could even see myself driving it with pride The sight of these two damaged Genesis makes me sad and I can't believe they are transported on a such a small truck. It's like transporting a double refrigerator on a wheel barrow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Re: Hyundai unveils Genesis sedan ![]() Hyundai is doing its biggest lease deal ever in a bid to attract customers to the $33,000 Genesis sedan. Buyers can lease the V-6 model, which went on sale in June, for $399 per month for 24 months with $2,199 due at lease signing. Hyundai expects the V-6 to account for about 80 percent of the sales for the new luxury car. "We're excited," says Bill Wallace, owner of Wallace Hyundai in Stuart, Fla. "It's the right message with the right car." The deal is the first aggressive lease program offered by Hyundai Motor Finance Co., says John Krafcik, vice president of product planning at Hyundai Motor America. The Genesis is the first Hyundai aimed at upscale buyers, who tend to lease rather than buy. Krafcik says he expects leasing to represent about half of Genesis sales. He says Hyundai's lease penetration has been 10 to 12 percent. A strong residual value from Automotive Lease Guide helped cut the cost of leasing. The Santa Barbara, Calif., company, which sets residual standards for the industry, estimates that a 2009 Genesis will be worth 50 percent of its original sticker price after 36 months. "That is definitely a big win for Hyundai," says Jim Clark, editorial director at Automotive Lease Guide. Wallace, who also sells Cadillacs and Lincolns, says the Genesis lease deal is $100 to $150 less per month than Cadillac now offers on the CTS, which Hyundai says is a prime competitor. Adds Don Hicks, a Hyundai dealer in Aurora, Colo.: "If $399 gets them in the door and they don't buy that car, something's wrong." The V-6 lease deal runs through July. The V-8 version goes on sale in about a month. Hyundai goes big on Genesis lease - AutoWeek Magazine M
