Re: New adaptive high-beam assistant automati-cally adjusts headlamps for optimum....

Eni .. the last paragraph of the article above is exactly the same to what MB is presenting ... I don't think they are different ... I first came to know this during the private presentation of the new 7er ...

PS: its funny how MB fans change their tone

PSS: usually innovations are not of my interest because in 90% of the cases they are outsourced by external supplier and will eventually spread through the Trio ... so it is a matter of timing and availability - apparently nothing is exclusive.

Re: New adaptive high-beam assistant automati-cally adjusts headlamps for optimum....

Actually ... I just read the article on MB Intelligent Light System. It already offers what the new 7er Light system offers: Cornering light, Active Bending Lights, speed dependent Variable Light distribution (City / Country mode, and Motorway mode).

The new MB Adaptive High-beam assistant system is indeed more sophisticated: constantly adopting low beam, so the classic high-beam is actually redundant - since enhanced low-beam can take the task of the high-beam. So this AHBA can work in the ranges illuminated by classic low beam & classic high beam. All depends on ongoing traffic etc.

While BMW system is conventional, and only switches between classic low beam & classic high-beam - depending on ongoing traffic etc.

BMW will present the new MB-like system next year - basically in the same time as MB. Initially in 760Li, 7er ActiveHybrid, and the PAS. Since the hardware is already there (adaptive dynamic xenon lights, screening camera, CPU) ... only software is missing to constantly & dynamically control the high-beam.

It's not exclusively MB's concept. As said: BMW cars are going to get it about the same time as the first MBs.

I guess MB's just firing marketing canon-balls to undermine 7er launch, and to fill the void till the W212 E-class & FL W211 S-class introduction.

This thread reminds me of the M3 vs Rs4 vs C63 episode by Top Gear.

"Damn, Hammond's M3 windshield wiper is 1" bigger than mine"
"but I've got the biggest knob"

Very cool tech! A simple software program is all the 7er needs to have this 'groundbreaking' feature too, though.....

With an MB S-class there is no such thing as 'comfortable enough'!
