Today, Mercedes-Benz USA has announced that 61,000 Mercedes C-Class are being recalled, due to irregularities involving the driver’s side air bag which were discovered during government testing.
sad to hear this, not good for MB's image.

I guess some BMW fanboys are having a party about this?!

Just an airbag. I dont think it will be hard to fix? I was expecting a more major problem than this.

Re: Another Blow For Benz!

What I don't understand is that the C-class is not exactly a new car so you'd think that they would have sorted out problems like this by now. It's these kinds of problems that are bringing Benz down.

Re: Another Blow For Benz!

AMS just posted an article. MB is the brand with the most recalls in germany the last year: over 350,000 cars
BMW only had one recall, and it wasn't even there fault. It was because Bosh had delivered a bad part for the engine. Now this. Not good MB, not good at all

Re: Another Blow For Benz!

Well....it's 'only' 61.000 c-classes.
So it's not all c-classes but a certain year or month of the model.
It could be Mercedes' airbag supplier fault by delivering faulty products but I don't know. The article didn't gave much details away.
But then again, the press always seeks for sensation news and sometimes tries to make things look worse than it really is.
Especially since Mercedes is suffering quality and reliability the past few years.

Ouch... it surely is significant.... MB really should take their time and test and do things properly the first time... They have alot too lose....

Re: Another Blow For Benz!

This has nothing to do with testing the car Alex. It is either quality control i.e. issues at a certain factory C-classes are produced or a parts supplier. Either way it's still MBs fault.

Re: Another Blow For Benz!

The Media seem to be relishing every opportunity to knock Mercedes-Benz as they try to get themselves back on track - the C class is due for replacement soon, but this is certainly very bad publicity once again - Mercedes are sure paying a hefty price for taking their eyes off the ball for even a brief time.

Re: Another Blow For Benz!

I would hardly consider this to be of some major set back to MB. What car make doesn't have recalls? If it doesn't happen now, there's a good chance that it will happen later.. then again, it may not. Whoopty do.

Re: Another Blow For Benz!

Every car maker under the sun has had recalls and Mercedes is no different. Toyota recalled more cars in 2005 than ever before.

Now it kills me when I read how it is supplier problem for BMW, but for Mercedes its just plain ole Mercedes' fault. What a pile of BS! Duh, all car companies get a lot of their guts from suppliers, Mercedes is no different.

I agree, but that's the last thing Benz wants right now is how they have to recall cars. No matter how small the recall might be, it's still a quality problem. Remember, that whole deal with the diesels were not Benz's fault either, it was Bosch wasn't it? Look how much that hurt them.
