| Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests We don't have a thread for Maybach roadtests I see. Why should the big guy be left out? Here is one I just stumbled upon about the 57S. Maybach 57S ![]() ![]() Despite tipping the scales at a palatial 2735kg, the 57S is capable of hitting 62mph from rest in just 5.0sec and dispatching the 50mph-75mph split in a crushingly rapid 3.7sec. Top speed is limited to 171mph, though there’s little doubt that the limousine would haul beyond 200mph when left to its own devices. M

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests Ahh, thanks for that Merc1. I actually saw that video a couple of years ago - it pre-dates the launch of the Phantom. Richard Hammond does seem to really like the car, it certainly looks impressive on the video too - as time has moved on the Maybach doesn't seem so outrageoulsly indulgent as it did at first. I still prefer the Phantom, but the Maybach is a very special vehicle. ![]() |

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests I saw one of these on the showroom floor when I was dealing for my S. Kind of breathtaking up close. Detailing was precise. They were having a special announcement of the 57S that evening...saw some pictures later of the event and anybody who was anybody was there. Also, while waiting for my contract papers to be prepared, the salesman showed me the Maybach Salon. They have all the materials layed out and have this big screen TV that allows the buyer to see his car with his selections as he makes his detailed specs. Everything is custom and measured to exact specs. For $300K + you should get the absolute best of everything they have to offer.

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests Yes thanks Roberto! For some reason I overlook the Maybach thread from time to time. Yes the Maybach 57S does look good doesn't it. I can't help but agree with those that have said this is what the Maybach should have been from the start. The thing is gorgeous in some of these pics. ![]() M

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests Another new Maybach 57S roadtest, this time by Edmunds. 57S 'Bach or boat? Decisions, decisions… Maybach representatives regularly back away from comparisons to other automobiles such as the similarly massive Rolls-Royce Phantom or the slick new Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Rather, Maybach says it considers motor yachts and personal aircraft as the primary competition of the plain-Jane 57. Uh huh. With the 57 S, Maybach doesn't have to play coy anymore. Thanks to its fantastic engine and uncompromising, feature-laden interior, the 2006 Maybach 57 S is better than those other two cars, and anything else in its segment. So, Maybach, shut up about the yachts and kick some Rolls-Royce arse already. ![]() ![]() ![]() M

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests Excellent review Marcus, I really want one. I agree with the writer about the carbon fiber - I would choose not to have it either, preferring all the wood to be the Black piano wood instead. I think comparing this car directly with a Rolls-Royce Phantom is pointless - the Phantom is undeniably a better limousine than the Maybach 57 but this 57S is designed to crush the Arnage T - and it completely achieves that. Maybach may find far greater success in this segment than trying to out-do Rolls-Royce at their game. I now just can't wait to see what Bentley replace the Arnage with - let the battle begin.

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests Yeah I want one now myself. I've become quite a "fan" of this most special Maybach. The only thing I worry about is price. I hope they have one at Detoit in 2 weeks when I'll be there. M

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests Great article bum-man ...I struggled with it [the German language] for a while, then finally used a translator. Is it true they only sold 25 Maybachs in Germany last year? .....not selling too well then.

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests ![]() Jaw dropping! Never seen anything like this before...... You don't see that with a Phantom And, I really like the looks of the 57S too. Looks very cool, even next to the W221

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests Re klier, Yep it sure is impressive ...and you would never see a Phantom doing that ..but drifting would hardly be appropriate behaviour for a Rolls-Royce anyway. As much as I like the 57S, I still think the Phantom is more desirable ....and according to the sales figures, it would appear the world's wealthiest car buyers think so too. ![]()

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests S65 for me. I want to be chauffeured in a Maybach if I get one. Am I the only one that thinks online translators suck? I mean, they translate "Maybach" into "May brook" LOL. The video is awesome (where's the one for the S65?), it's really quite in that 57S. Throwing a $400K ultra-luxury car like that around the track takes some guts

| Re: Maybach 57, 57S, and 62 Roadtests That video is downright erie, I mean such a big car being hurled around like that. Nothing but engine and some tire noise, but nothing else. It looked like it was going to keel over on some of those turns though. That said I still want a 57S and if I could afford a 57S then obviously I'm rich so I can have a S65 too! M
