  | Supercharged Range Rover Spied (500+ hp)   One of our expert spy photographers spotted a new Range Rover out at the Nürburgring this week. Land Rover is presumably looking to take a bigger bite out of the high-powered SUV market with this supercharged monster. Barreling through the ring with a 5.0 litre supercharged engine, this new Range Rover with quad-exhaust pipes gets over 500 horsepower. The engine is believed to be the same engine Jaguar plans to use on the XKRR coupe. That V10 engine is all-aluminum, gets 507 bhp, and 788 ft-lb of torque. This new Range Rover looks to be born out of necessity. "Green" may be the focus in Tokyo right now, but the reality is that Land Rover must compete with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG, and future M-badged versions of the BMW X5 and X6. | Re: Supercharged Range Rover Spied (500+ hp) Too bad the world has got so hung up on environmental issues because at one time there was a V12 Range Rover on the drawing board. An Aston V12 in a Range Rover sounded awesome to me. M

| Supercharged Range Rover Spied (500hp)  Land Rover has been testing a new version of its Range Rover luxury SUV at the Nurburgring in recent months, likely to be a high performance model with a supercharged engine. Rivals BMW and Porsche have also been spotted testing more powerful versions of their respective SUVs recently so the new Range Rover will definitely have some tough competition to contend with when it arrives next year. Onlookers claim the Range Rover prototype was lapping the Nurburgring at a rapid rate and that it had a distinct supercharge whine emanating from the engine bay. According to earlier reports the prototype was sporting a new 5.0L V8 engine and its output figure is rumored to be around the 500hp mark. Torque levels will be in excess of 677Nm (500ft-lb). This engine is claimed to be the same unit destined for the upcoming Jaguar XKR-R super-coupe. Visually, the new model will be differentiated by its lower ride height and quad exhaust pipes. Though officials are yet to confirm the car, rumor has it the production version will carry ‘R’ badging. Source: Supercharged Range Rover "R" In The Works
