The latest trend in Greek TV is for newscasters and other journalists to have a laptop next to them while they are on TV and nearly all of them use a Vaio. Huge publicity for Sony.

What type of screen is it?

i know i sure as hell wouldt buy one of these instead of a vaio unless i had alot of money and i wanted 2 waste it on someting that looks cool and as a fashin statement

My HP laptop also has a 15.4 inch widescreen display + bright light and It's awsome. I love it.

yeah, but none can touch the brightness of a vaio screen, believe me I've searched for long enough

i hate ipods lol! my brother has one....i just dont get why so many people have them....how does it win all these design awards?....cuz apple payed people to use them in music videos? i mean once the battery is dead you have to buy a new one..unlike its competitors, it is larger than its competitors, it has less battery life than its competitors...its heavier, it stores less songs for the equivalent hard drive space........just dont get it.......

Rik I think you need to look harder becasue my screeen is REALLY bright.

ye i just got a 14" hp after i returned my 13.3" viao and its far better i think...it was less expensive...faster and has a 7.5 hour battery life...and its screen is fairly bright...its called brightview or something...plus i hate ipods...i just got a 20gig photo in the summer andthe released video ones that are nicer and thinner...but i think sony has the best mp3's

I have an Archos Gmini400 right now and i'm pretty happy with it. It's just nice to be able to watch videos as well. but if I'm in the market for an Mp3 player that only does MP3, forget the Ipod. This is the way to go:

Yes the sony player is good if you are just after something that just plays mp3 but if you pay a couple of more buck you get the ipod G5 which has a large colour screen and also plays videos. In that sense apple is light years ahead of Sony. On top of that the bundled Sony music stage(or what ever it's called) sucks big time. Besides that the long battery time only concerns songs in Sony's own format which is quite pointless.
Yes ipods are common but so is the BMW 3er but that doesn't mean that it's a bad car right? I agree with you that ipods are a bit overrated but they are really good. The reason why I own an Ipod is becasue they are attractive, have leading technology and are unbeatalbe when it comes to organising and playing your music. The clickwheel makes it so easy to navigate the player .

Sony, creative and iriver are simply retarted. They never give us something new. What they do is that they wait for apple to hit us with something hot and 3 months after that they launch their replicas.

Well the problem is that Sony doesn't have a player that plays video yet, so let's keep it at MP3 for now.
Where did you hear that Music stage sucks? One of the reasons I got my Gmini is because you can drag and drop straight from Windows... that is such a plus for me.
Also, the new Sony that I just pointed out (NW-HD5) is about 3/4 the size of an Ipod. You cannot beat that. PLUS this one supports regular MP3 (and not just ATRAC3 like they used to... which was stupid) . The battery life for MP3 on the Sony is 28 hours (at 128k sound quality vs the Ipod's 14 hours). ANd if you convert your files to ATRAC, the battery life jumps up to 40 hours!

In that sense, this new Sony is IMO the best Mp3 player out there right. Would love to get one, I'm so tempted.

Okey the battery time is damn good *surrender*. Yes the player is very small but guess what the new ipod G5 is thinner and a gigantic colour screen, video playback and 30gb, that's to impressive . So you wonder where I have heard that Music stage sucks. The answer is everywhere!!!!!!!! It's all over the net, almost every magazine and user is saying that the software is terrible, in fact I haven't read anything postive about it.

Yea in those terms yes... if you want a thing that can play video as well, forget the Sony . The thing is though, as much as I like my MP3 player, I find that I don't use the video capabilities very often at all. And because it plays video and has color screen, that reduces the battery life. here it is:

If I wanted the best MP3 player out there, the Sony wins it because it is the smallest (.2 inches of thickness is not much of difference ), has the best battery life... and I forgot to mention... CNET said this had the best sound of the new Mp3 players out right now. Add good headphones to that, and there's your best MP3 player IMO. I'm so tempted to get one right now but I'm slapping myself.

Yeah the sony player is a damn good one if you just want an mp3 player without any goofy functions. Video playback is a cool feature but I'm not suprised that you don't take advantage of it. I have quite a few friends who owns the new ipod but they hardly watch films on it since the process of converting videos is a pain in the ass. Most of them where shock when they found out that they can't just drag any video into the ipod and watch it . It's not easy as people think and converting movies takes a looooooooong time, especially if you have a PC with a weak CPU.

Nah, that's not really the reason actually. You are right, you can't drag and drop videos but I had this program (not anymore since i re-formatted my computer and don't remember the name) that converted the files to the right format and resolution. I just selected a whole bunch of movies and left it to convert over night (Top Gear, Family guy, had Sin City as well ). I just happen to use my MP3 player when I'm walking around campus or when I'm on the bus and what not... so I never really have time to watch videos.

yes and how many people have the video playing ipod? not that many....its the standard version which made it famous and i agree with warot, it has to be the most over hyped piece of technology in the last 100 years lol
check out the new sony mp3 walkman (the purple one on sonys website!) it has an organic display, as far as the technology is concerned sony are the ones ahead i think...its sad to get an ipod just because a singer has one in their music video...which they only have because they were payed to use it...

no, it's something else. And it's crap. I've tried it in the store: get's greasy as hell, the screen is rubbish and already looks outdated, the quality wasn't all that ( already squicky sounds with a locked away test-player ) I'll have my Ipod mini thank you very much. You can all say that it's overhyped, it's still the one that started it all. It's still the standard for the others. It may be overpriced and the battery may be crap sometimes, but it's also the most copied player out there.

I don't see the new Nano as being overpriced, it's $200 for a color screen and 2gb of storage. The battery life isn't that impressive though.
The closest quality player I saw was a Samsung going for $170 and that was only 1gb and had a much smaller screen.

Sony purple 20gb? That player is really crappy. I would never buy it. It has 20gb and weigh 182 grams compared with 135 gram iPod G5 30gb + colour display and video playback. IMo that's a huge difference

the one warot posted, nwhd 5 and even the nwhd 3 lol they are the true ipod copmetitor they beat it in everyway, the purple "mp3 walkman" is the future of all screens, its Organic Electroluminescence or something and uses 50% less power than a normal LCD screen as it requires no backlight as it glows naturally...soon to replace all phone screen and eventually monitors.....

it depends what you are after, battery life it wins by miles.....but as for the nwhd3 and 5 they are far superior to an ipod....

once again, I repeat what I said earlier: The Ipod set the standard for everybod. That sony organic "thing" was of bad quality, got greasy and the controlls were nowhere near as quick and intuïtive as the Ipod.

Now yes, the battery is a weaknes of the Ipod. But the main reason is battery life??? They've sorted out the battery problem with the Ipods, not saying that it's best on the market. But the quality, feel and easyness to use beat everything else hands down.

Yes the purple sony might have a high tech screen, but who cares when you can't look at it because it's greasy, it cracks and the controlls get on your nerves.
