XF Jaguar C-XF Concept @ NAIAS 2007

The Jaguar XF (X250) is an executive luxury sports saloon car that was manufactured and marketed by the British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars. Launched in Autumn 2007 as a replacement for the S-Type, the XF was designated internally as the X250. The X250 was succeeded by the X260 in 2015.

They're famous for doing that aren't they? Remember the utterly exquisite Boxster-beating F-Type roadster concept? That should've made it into production and instead... well you know what the Jag line up is like at the moment: they're quite competitive in their comfort zones, namely the XK series and XJ series, but for S-Type and dreadful X-Type... egad! What to do about bread and butter models, eh Jaguar?

When i saw the first teaser pic i was actually worried about the next 5er. But after seeing these new pics, i couldn't help but feel utterly dissapointed and relived.
It just doesn't pass as a Jaguar for me. If it weren't for the badges, i wouldn't even recognise it as such. The rear just lacks the elegance, the rear overhangs are too long, it's suppose to be a 4-door coupe but it doesn't appear to even have frameless windows, and don't even get me started about the interior- i can't even make out a shape cos it's so dark.
What angers me is Ian Callum's deep arrogance. When asked by the journalist if people would not recognise the car as a Jaguar his reply "It doesn't matter" is so aloof.
I understand that Jaguar needs to move forward in design, but they should do it with class and some partial reference to it's rich heritage. The least Callum could do was do a AM Rapide knock-off just as he did with the XK and DB9.

Jaguars more and more start to look like Fords. First the XK with the Taurus grille and now this with a lot of elements from Mustang and even Mondeo.
I know Jaguar had to move on with their design motives but this is definitely not the right direction they are taking.
Shame to see a historic marque like Jaguar to get ruined day by day , soon there will be nothing left. It's obvious that Ford doesn't have a clue how to deal with them.

you know something th design is not as abd as it seems, the profile and proportions are just right the problem, major one that is, is withh the execution of the front and rear design. the rear is somewhat inelegant and busy, and the front, though good in idea fails at practice for lack of coherence, the theme can stay but the grill and lights need redefning within the same idea but in different proportions and sizes
i am not ultimatrely unhappy with this as many are saying, it would be the first time a manufacturer has had the guts to replace a crucial model (midsize exec sedan) with soemthing so advneturous, but in its present case it wiull be oly for jaguar afficionados, iif they don't get repelled.

I don't know what to say. It is certainly a new design language. The design of the front is all right but the rear is a disaster. This must be the biggest step any British car manufacturer has ever taken from the old world. As a big fan of British cars I don't like this concept at all. As a matter of fact the car itself is yet another nail in the coffin for Jaguar.
The looks are far from graceful and elegant as the looks of the cars from the past. Even the new XK looks more British than this "Fisker head lights-Lexus IS side profile-Lincoln concept rear". Then again I'm not going to bash it too much since it isn't that ugly.
My biggest concern is that Ford already has an Aston Martin four door coupe in the pipe line. Why the hell would the want to give us a Jaguar one at the same time. My guess is that thic concept is probably the up coming S-type.

Actually, I don't mind this vehicle at all, in fact I kind of like it.
One thing though..in the link that deustch posted Ian Callum said "Jaguar needed to reestablish it's self" and while I would agree with that, I don't think this vehicle has much of it's own idenity. When the XK came out it was always clear that is was Aston Martin Inspired, for the C-XF I see traces of BMW, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ford, Lexus IS and Mercedes CLS all wrapped into one.
I'm interested to see how unchanged this concept will be from the real product (apparently this is the concept for the S-Type), because if you remember the ALC concept wasn't much different than the final production XK.

I agree w/ Yannis on the fact that this does indeed look like a Forduar. I really thought Ian Callum would give us some nice modern Jags to look at, unfortunately, looks like he's kind of screwed things up. This is just a concept though, the front looks right, the mid section OK, the rear utter crap. The actual XF maybe a stunner, we'll see. Not giving up on Jag, it was my Grandma's favorite car, God bless her soul.

Personally I think that we should have a little more of an open mind in Jags new approach to their designs. Because the way I see it is it is literally now or never for Jag to do something radical and new. They have waited far too long to not think outside of their boundaries. It's getting tiresome. I am just happy to see something so cutting edge from this company. I hope that they really start putting things from the drawing board and really trying to match it with the production car. I think that their approach is fresh looking and cutting edge along with other manufacturers like Ford and what not. Have a little faith!
