| Re: Car and Driver: The Lightning Lap Thanks for the post Karma deserved.I'm dissapointed with the M6's time, it should have easily beaten the Cayman, it certaintly has in other tests. |

| Re: Car and Driver: The Lightning Lap I think for M6 they forgot to push the power button, but there is no way the M6 could ever take an SRT-10 Coupe on the track. I've noticed that the SRT-10 is american comparisons always gets numbers very close to the ZO6 and GT On secound tought maybe and most certainly it's because they use the SRT-10 Coupe not the SRT-10 Roadster.

Car and Driver did say that the M6 was a sweatheart to drive but wasn't that quick due to it weight. They did give kudos to the SMG. They normally haven't like the SMG but said it worked great for the track. I think part of the problem for the M6 in this test is that the Virginia Internation Raceway, which is about 75 miles from my house, is more of a handling track than a speed track. There isn't a lot of places to get a lot of speed where a horsepower advantage can offset a handling disadvantage. The cars that have less power than the M6 but beat the M6 are great handling cars. For instance in sector 2 the M6 has the 4th highest entry speed but is way down on the exit speed. The Lotus Elise's entry speed is about 7 mph slower than the M6 but is it's exit speed is 8 seconds faster.

FYI, the best test for the SRT-10 on the Hockenhei,, is 1:13.7, it was in an updated test with a proper European Viper rather than the imported one first used in the Sport Auto supertest. Last edited by Bruce; 10-18-2006 at 03:41 PM. | |
