Autocar: Audi TT 3.2 vs BMW Z4 coupe 3.0si.

Greek Autocar has a test of Audi TT 3.2 versus BMW Z4 coupe 3.0si. The article seems like a translation from the English issue (although both cars have German licence plates in the photos).

Anyway i think it's interesting to know that Audi TT wins the comparison for being the best all around. It's safe and very fast at the same time , better build and more desirable as a design.

Z4 has better connection with the driver and better steering wheel but it can be a bit "nervous" and requires attention if someone wants to drive it fast.

I guess the TT has left the SLK standing alone as a chair dresser car.

Re: Autocar: Audi TT 3.2 vs BMW Z4 coupe 3.0si.

Hmm, the TT won this time. It's very good for a new car to win over it's rival in automobile magazines. BTW, Yannis, the new TT has come to Greece???

PS. That pic looks very blurry. Were you jumping up and down when you took the pic?

Just because the SLK is not 100% focused on dynamics, does not make it a hair dressers car. It offers a great balance of sporting ability and crusing comfort.

Seems Audi really are gunning hard to replace BMW as the drivers choice. I hope that this competition does not end up compromising other aspects of newer BMW's and AUDI's, like comfort and ride quality.

Interesting review, I'd find it hard to pick either one of these cars, if I was in the market for a car like this!

Come on, it's the lesser of its class.

This is, like, the very definision of the driver's car, so no problem from Audi.
As long as Audi go for the Jack-of-all-trades-Master-of-None philosophy BMW won't be in trouble of loosing title of driver's car choice.

The SLK simply has different priorities and has won many a comparison against the Z4 for being the better all rounder. Sales figures prove further that its appeal is universal.

Not everyone wants to drive a roadster that requires so much driver involvment and will leave their rear ends feeling numb.

Re: Autocar: Audi TT 3.2 vs BMW Z4 coupe 3.0si.

Nothing new here. I said it before I expected TT to be a winner of comparison test - due to its all-roundness. Also the customer base is very different. TT is more of a posh coupe - just like Cayman, while Z4 Coupe is made for being a toy for extrem fun & involving driving. It's not a car for everyone.

But BMW will also offer a more all-around small coupe soon: 2-series coupe - coming in 2007.

With the TT (as with any modern Audi) you can drive very fast and be safe at the same time. No oversteer (unless you want it) or any "nervous" reactions. Surely RWD , well balanced cars (like BMWs or Porsches) are fun to drive but you always face the risk of an accident. Since 95% of all drivers are not very capable in driving i would say that TT is the driver's car for the real world cause it makes good drivers even better while it can forgive bad drivers also.
