Re: McLaren F1 LM or Bugatti Veyron?

Tough choice. I'd probably go for the McLaren... It has more character.

I don't think those acceleration figures are correct (0-62 km/h?)

Haha, yeah that's probably a typo where they meant mph. I'd pick the McLaren too because it's more sports oriented. For a daily driver, though, I'd have to evaluate how much comfort the LM gives way for its performance before making a decision (we all know the Bugatti will be a better daily driver).

Easiest. Poll. Ever.

McLaren F1 in half a heartbeat. Veyron, while being a technological marvel, means nothing to me.

Since I tend to lean to the comfort side in general, I voted for the Veyron.

Re: McLaren F1 LM or Bugatti Veyron?

Mclaren without any doubt because it is a true sport car, light powerful and performant with a fantastic engine (i am not saying the w16 is bad but i prefer a fantasctic atmospheric V12 to quadraturbo w16). Sure the bugatti is a monster of performances but it's too much heavy to pretend to be a pure sport car (i am sure a Mclaren will destroy it in circuit), in fact i think it's the best GT ever made.

Re: McLaren F1 LM or Bugatti Veyron?

Have the Bugatti Veyron's top speed been verified? Or is everyone just taking company figures at face value? There were a number of exotic car manufacturers in the 1980s who claimed to have built the then-fastest 220mph-plus sports car..

The Mclaren is far better than the Veyron. The Veyron is a big heavy lump and would probably get beat on a track by a Lotus Elise. It's just my opinion, but I think the Veyron is ugly. It looks like a whale.

Re: McLaren F1 LM or Bugatti Veyron?

Can we see some interior pics of both?

This is a hard poll which I will not participate in. These two cars can be very much compared and marvelled at. They have techonolgy that surpasses (in their time) many other cars, especially when it comes to performance.

But in the end, to me, they are completely different. Even though they can be compared because they are marvels of what supercars should be I think they should not be compared. The Mclaren is substantially older than the Veyron, althought the freaking Veyron has been around for a few years now.

They both have things I like and don't like. I choose a Audi RS4

Re: McLaren F1 LM or Bugatti Veyron?

i am not sure how to vote also. both these cars are just simply amazing but one is more of a gt and one was made primarlily for track use even though it can be drivin on the road. So this leaves me with what i would rather want. The bugatti is more luxurious no doubt but the McLaren is more hard core. The bugatti is said to be faster but on a track i highly doubt that. But i gotta say 1001 hp is pretty damn impressive. For me i cannot decide which is better.

Re: McLaren F1 LM or Bugatti Veyron?

I voted for the Veyron. The LM looks to hardcore for me but if it was the F1 it whould be harder choice. Since il probably never go to the track I dont need the LM performance.

Looks? Veyron,..ughh... dont like it in light colors. In dark colors it looks a bit more menacing..but overall, that 'beetle' shape doesn't really have much sporting association with it. What i mean there is, with certain cars, even if they are stationary, they still exude a sense of forward-motion,..a sense of speed and relentless power. In my eyes, the Veyron doesn't have that key characteristic. The McLaren F1 LM on the other hand does. Put aside it's everlasting legacy, put aside the McLaren name and reputation and judge the car simply on it's looks and presence (especially in the context of the time period that it debuted). It really has that low-sitting nose and high-end rear, the clearly visible greenhouse (as opposed to the Veyron's greenhouse which blends in with the rear of the car, hence the beetle shape), those sharp character lines along the side of the compared to the Veyron's curvy lines.
Look at the F1, and you'll see lines extending from the side of the car to the rear symbolising the flow of air as it builds up speed. Now look at the Veyron, ...you don't see that at all... the line starts from the front and curves out at the door. It may be a GT, but the looks and design philosophy of the car just make it more of a show-pony rather than a performance orienated design.

Oks... enough on the design-side of things.

Performance. Well, is there really any point in comparing this. These 2 cars are at the extreme of their trade. Uber-performance cars with technologically magnificent engines.
BMW engineering vs VW engineering ? ... no point comparing. These cars are from different time periods...and no one can argue that the advancements in technology make it unfair to compare their respective engines. For those of you who follow the 'mine is bigger than yours' mindset... well, then yes, the Veyron takes it out here simply because it's faster off the line and at top-speed. But only a shallow and immature man would base their decision on that factor.

Driving dynamics. Well, I can't imagine how the Veyron could make up that large weight disadvantage. It may have most of it's weight between it's axles so as to lower it's centre of gravity, but just it's sheer weight has to make you wonder how this car could possibly hides its weight when the driver's behind the wheel.
The McLaren F1 LM? Is there any real need to answer that. So much lighter, so much better equiped for outright racing and performance even when you compare it to the McLaren F1.
I just don't see how the Veyron could match the McLaren's racing prowess,..it's just too damn heavy.

Everyday versatility is probably the only place the Veyron could score more points than the F1 LM. It would probably be more of a capable everyday car ..but thinking realisticly, anyone who can afford these cars, would be able to afford a car for everyday use such as a 7er, S, A8, etc..so not much of a case against the McLaren there.

McLaren F1 LM gets my vote...and it's far from a photo-finish.

Re: McLaren F1 LM or Bugatti Veyron?

God, I wanted to vote for the McLaren. I really wanted to. I have loved this automobile since as long as I can remember. However I would be lying to myself if I voted for it. THe Veyron is a marvel. I would be a farce if I voted for the McLaren even if it does look infinitely better, it could never stack up to the money losing, craziest, insanest, baddest ass machine ever made in the history of EVER! (got a little carried away there)

The Boi has a point, Forget the Zonda, wheres the Rio? Actually, the radio knob on the bugatti cost more money than the Rio and is probably worth more if you pawned it. LOL.
