| Guess the supertest ring time for Ferrari 458, McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes SLS I have been wondering what these new set of supercars are going to do around the ring. Despite the big diffrences, they all have similar power and similar transmission. So place your bets. This is about what sportauto achieves in the supertest with HVS as the driver. So no, "oh, xyz company claims 6 mins flat with abc driver". Here are the basic stats we know: Mercedes SLS: Power: 563 hp at 6800 rpm Torque: 650 N·m (480 lb·ft) at 4750 rpm Weight: 3571.48 lb (1620 kg) Ferrari 458 Italia: Power: 560 hp at 9000 rpm Torque: 540 N·m (400 lb·ft) at 6000 rpm Weight: 3042lb (1308kg) McLaren MP4/12C Power: 600 hp Torque: 422 lb·ft (572 N·m) Weight: ? Some times by other cars for comparison: Carrera GT: 7:32 Zonda F: 7:33 997 GT2: 7:33 ZR1: 7:38 GTR: 7:38 F430 Scuderia: 7:39 997 GT3 Mk2: 7:40 R8 V10: 7:44 SL65 BS: 7:51 |

| Here are my initial guess: MP4-12C: 7:30 (I would have gone lower, but I don't see them testing much around the ring). F458: 7:35 (again I would have gone lower, but Ferrai never tests around the ring like the Germans, so I doubt the suspension is setup for it). SLS: 7:40 (I am guessing it should be at least be faster than R8 V10). |

| Here are my best guess: MP4-12C: 7:18(This car is going to be very light with brilliant aerodynamics and create a new plateau for the hyper car). F458: 7:30 (Just like any Ferrari this car will be as comfortable on the track as it is on the road). SLS: 7:38 (More of a GT car than a race car but still my favorite of the bunch).

| Mclaren F1 -- Mclaren F1 team - The name Mclaren is synonymous with performance. I'd be damned if the MP24-12C doesn't set unrivalled benchmarks in performance. Mclaren didn't waste time with lacklustre teasers and their approach seem to be were serious with no non-sense. MP4-12C: 7.24min F458: 7.32min(The Scuderia version coming later shall be more brutal) SLS AMG: 7.49(Refreshing car but will sadly be a laggard) |

| SLS : around 7:40s (official time) 458 : around 7:30s MP4-12C : around 7:20s McLaren will be the fastest both in a straight line and on a track, that´s for sure. BTW, Italia has 570hp/578PS (most mags get it wrong, 425kW is 570hp/578ps, it has more than SLS -420kW) and Mclaren has 600Nm. |

is that 70% a typo? As will all Benzes, and as was the case with the SLR, there will definitely be a compromise for the sake of everyday driveability and comfort. But initial reports have said the way this car drives is very special indeed, so don't write it off so soon. Track times aren't everything. | |

| based on what we know and what I have read on ferrarichat, the 458 is much heavier than a Scuderia (around the same as an F430, if not a bit more), and around their track isnt faster than a scuderia. so my guess for the F458 is a time of 7:38. MB claims 7:40 for the SLS, I will take a stab that SportAuto does a 7:45. we dont know the weight of the Mclaren, but ive heard its gonna be around the 2800ish range. this would make comparable to a Zonda F in terms of power to weight. my guess is a 7:27. |
