Audi S8 looks fantastic but the normal A8 dont look as good as the S8. Normal just look to plain for me.

If you really look closely, the Lexus interior is rather cheap compared to the 7, S, and A8. Small details, like the way the interior door panels attach to the doors is crappy, and while the design is okay at best, the buttons look like they came from a SONY alarm clock.

I disagree. The AMG package makes the S-Class look sporty and elegant, but that's it. The regular W221 looks very classy but conservative - which is something your typical S-Class buyer wants. Remember, these cars aren't sold to 20 year old driving enthusiasts with other priorities. And those S-Class drivers that want something sporty can always go for an AMG or order the AMG styling etc.

Looks classy and elegant to me.

Exactly.

It's the attention to detail which ruins the LS interior - and the confusing ergonomics (too many buttons and according to many reviews these buttons are also illogically placed).

From the distance, the LS interior looks good. Zoom in a little closer and that's where it looses points, because the attention to detail is just poor. Certain design elements like the door handles and padding and overall design look like they were taken out of a high-level Corolla or at least an Avalon.

For comparison purposes:

Mercedes S-Class

Lexus LS

A big difference in appearance and details in favor of the S-Class in my non-biased opinion. The Audi A8 and new 7er also make great impressions in this department. Thus the LS tends to stand out in a negative way.

Mine too... Just watched Transporter 3, and even though the movie sucked, I went out from the movies with a big smile on my face, after the car scenes

On ClubLexus (I read those forums from time to time) I saw one member start a thread about how "He has never seen anyone construct such expensive-looking and high-quality interiors like Lexus". Everyone then chipped in and began blabbing on about how Lexus interiors just "destroy the competition".

I wanted to sign up there and ruin the party but I figured I would get spanked considering so many folks there are just so Lexus biased.

At least here on GCF when we criticize something we try to back it up with facts and opinions and maybe pictures while trying to make a compelling case or point.

Well that's just plain stupid and having lived in California I can't understand how the American people could be demanding such reduced functionality. In California the distances you drive tend to be long and if you're on the high way it's a nightmare to stop over somewhere without wasting 5-10 minutes in the process.

The vast majority of time you use the navigation system will be when you're in the car and when you're the car it's most likely in motion. I can come up with countless of scenarios where this "feature" would be a disaster. Like when you're driving and the passenger is on the phone finding out the area code for an address you'll be heading towards. What about when the fuel tank is getting empty and you want to find a point of interest such as a gas station? Will you have to waste fuel by finding a place to pull over only to find out later by the GPS that you just passed the spot while looking for a place to pull over?

In general I'm not super negative to the LS as I've had quite a good experience. The only reason I can see anyone buying it over the Germans, is for the rear seat hospitality which is close to the same level as a Maybach.

I am very happy I downloaded Transporter 3 on my PC and didn't go and watch it in the cinema....terrible movie.
The A8 was pretty though, I must say. I take back my Lexus remarks, the A8 is far more elegant and timeless.

I'll sure take the 7-Series here... but personally it's a tie between the new 7-Series & the A8!

I love the the way A8 looks... she is one of very few cars that still looks young after being there for years!

Yep and mirror and grille are definitely S8-standard!!

So, I would say, it is a V8, that is transformed to a W12/S8! Most cheapes way, to "show" horsepower…

Mate, I'm too a BMW fan, but your words are a bit too extreme and harsh...

Mercedes builds wonderful cars, and many think it builds the best cars in the world. I respect Mercedes as a true leader in the automotive industry, as well as BMW. One is the king, the other is the queen...

Certainly, you can't describe Mercedes cars as rubbish, or MB fans as idiotic.

Not a good way to start in this community
