Can't believe that the Merc wins this test. They write sth. like the whole concept is more conclusive because of better comfort, stunning fuel consumption for such a 4-cylinder etc… …it just won by a plus of 3 points, but it won… …although the BMW has 40 hp more, it has awesome fuel consumption etc. In my opinion it is the real winner here!! This is the first time I would say, that the Mercedes win this comparison because it's a Mercedes…

Merc won by just 3 points! Imo, the judges were more of Merc type of guys than Bimmer!

This is a no brainer to me. I pick the 330d.

- It looks better
- It drives better
- It has 6-cylinders.
- 1.2 seconds faster to 100km/h
- 6.0 seconds faster to 200km/h
- Accelerate faster in high gears
- It goes more quietly, less noise from the inside
- 330d only cost 800 Euro more than the Benz
- According to measured fuel consumption 330d only drinks 0.5 liters more fuel than the Benz


If I want to save fuel and want a cheaper car than there is BMW 320d for you.

It looks like when you start comparing stock vs. stock, things can change.

Well IRL this comparison is a tie. Just 3 points...

My view the c looks way better and int quality better and the car drives better the 3 handles better but comfort is not near the c and i think the c handles very well not as gud as the 3er

Another wacko comparison.

It should be 330d vs C320 CDI, not C250 CDI. Of course the 330d is going to win in performance. Only the almost equal torque rating of the C250 CDI keeps it from totally loosing the acceleration race.

The C320 CDI has 224-horsepower and 510 Nm of torque and according to Mercedes official figures goes from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds which means it should be even quicker (6.6 or 6.7) if properly exploited. It should be the Mercedes representative here, not the new C250 CDI. Of course AMS probably put the C250 CDI here based on price.

Interestingly enough in terms of dynamics and handling the C250 CDI performed pretty equally to the 330d if we are to believe these completely subjective ratings.

I have to disagree, I think the test is valid. Both cars cost the same, so when you have ~40.000E to spend on such a car, BMW offers you the 330d and MB offers you the 250CDI. I don't know how much more the C320CDI will cost, but pricewise, those to are comparable.
If it was for me, will take the 330d in black with brown inteior, and M pack

Well, the same pricetag?! Then we could compare C 250 CDI against a Lotus Elise or sth. similiar… Nevertheless, both cars belong to the same segment, same pricetag, but not the same engine type! Okay, both are diesels…

Someone considering a 330d will most likely not be considering a C250 CDI because they will be performance-oriented if they're considering a car like the 330d in the first place. A C320 CDI is the Mercedes offering to go against the 330d, not the C250 CDI.

The C250 CDI is a new model and BMW might not have a current competitor against it.

BMW do have an engine for C250 but for some strange reasons its only offered for the 1-series and its called 123d.

Ah, there we go.

A theoretical BMW 323d would be the competitor to the C250 CDI then.

They really should update the engine from the C320 CDI.
