2nd: VW Phaeton: 194 points
3rd: Mercedes S-Class:L 193 points
4th: BMW 7-Series: 189 points
5th: Jaguar: 181 points

Overall not much of a difference. Furthermore this category is very trivial and difficult to measure. How do we measure "perception"? We can't. To me this ranking is so irrelevant since all cars here have a good interior.

You want a cheap interior in this class? Look at the Lexus LS. Now that interior scares me.

Beating The S-class, not what I expected.

But rating the interior is hard, must be based on a personal opinion.
I sat inside the 7er and the interior is very well-built and extremely solid. And I don't understand that Audi keep coming first in interior materials and finish, even the new A4 is still ranked above the competiton in germans tests and on this board we have concluded that the A4 doesnt have better fit and finish than E90 and C-class.

Actually 7er got lower fit&finish grades due particular cost-saving issues:
- cheap hood bolt
- mediocre cushioning of inner sides of roof pillars

According to several German sites the 740i won the AutoBild comparison.
According to AB the S-class still offers slightly better comfort, and "more luxurious" V8 sound - while I6 TT in 740i sounds "more sporty than luxurious".

Autobild says the new 7-serie is finally a genuine BMW which they didnt think about previous 7er.
