I tell you why I pick 135i over 335i. I dont need a bigger car and 1-series is much nicer to drive. yes I have driven many 3er and 1er. Yes, 335i look better than 135i but it doesnt make 135i an ugly car, for me its more important how a car is to drive. I dont have the need to flash for others what I drive.

If it was all about enjoying how a car drives you would either:

A: Own a evo and a hothatch for 335i money
B: Own a evo and a track day special for 335i money
C: Own a commuter car and a track day special for 335i money.

P.S

A3 cabrio is a gimmick to me like 135i.

LoL, I thought this was a 135i vs 335i debate. I simply answered why I pick 135i over 335i. But let me reply anyway.

No, EVO and Impreza are to hardcore for me. I want some comfort and luxury and style. If I needed a second car I wouldnt mind a EVO but not for everyday use, they would work only as trackcar for me. Also I dont want my car to look too much like a ricer, I prefer a more subtle ride.
Yes, I have driven EVO and Impreza and they arent my thing. A 1-series fullfill my wishes enough and at the same time lets me drive bimmer.

And lots of people say the 1 series coupe isn't ugly, or looks quite appealing. Even the 1-Series' most vocal critic, Clarkson, agreed the coupe's styling is inoffensive. So why you are so clearly offended is quite amazing. I get the idea you are offended by the idea of this car. Yet months ago, you were singing a completely different tune. Why the change?

I already did. I'm still ready for those tests in which the S3 outruns the 335i, if you have them.

This far along, and you still haven't figured it out?
As to why anyone would buy one over the 335i, there are numerous reasons. Among them:
Smaller, more practical for manuevering in cities.
Less weight, same power = better performance. 1-Series steering is said to be sharper.
Standard 6-piston Brembos and electronic diff lock.
Cheaper.
And yes, even looks. If you want an elegant, some might say feminine, coupe, the 335i is right. If you want something fresher, more unique, more butch and muscular, you will find that in the 135i (or M3).

I'd go for the VW too. The BMW is just too ugly and the Audi just doesn't do anything for me.

I'd take the S3, especially if it's in that orange.

This shot is just...

LOL! I am more interested in the photography than the cars!

But from this list I'd take the 135i hands down followed by the R32.

Re: Autobild: BMW 135i vs Audi S3 vs Golf R32 DSG

Andreas you're getting on - 31! I can't believe... have we known each other that long!

As for EVO or STI heck, I'm 36 and neither car is too hardcore for me! That's coz I'm so muthafukkin superhardcore right now me I am! Yeah - and I drive a Polo 1.6.

On a more sober note...

Of course, my significant appreciation for the S3 notwithstanding... for certain I'd take that 135i. It's got too much going for it - not to mention the best engine money can buy with less than eight cylinders! GT-R's VR38DETT included!

Edit: Ok ok, sue me... I forgot about the flat sixes in the 911 GT3 and GT2 - but grant me this little oversight and lets agree to restrict the accolade for mass market production engines

I'd definitely try to see it in another color before coming to this judgment... and not to mention in real life.

I think this car in black with some eyelids to make the headlights seem a bit smaller would make this car my choice.

Merc has already seen the car at Detroit Autoshow.

Personally I like the car, I own a 1-serie Hatckback and yes, eyelids are just gay. Its so 80's No need for it imo and I sure wont put it on my car.

the car is bloody gorgeous.

PS this is not my car

We all see different thats why people have different taste regarding design. Shouldnt come as a surprise for you
and no, Aston, ferrari, lambos arent nice, they are gorgeous. There is a difference between nice and gorgoeus and NO, 135i isnt gorgoeus but it isnt ugly either.

Well, it's kind of pointless to compare it to Aston, Ferrari and Lamborghini. I really don't understand how the 1 Series is so ugly to the few people here.
I just saw one (5-dr hatchback) parked down the street half an hour ago and really tried to look for the ugliness in the car but as hard as I tried, I couldn't find it. The big front lights might make the front remind of a puppy's face but compared to any other regular cars the 1er doesn't stand out as ugly. 3 Series Compact was ugly, pre-facelifted 7 Series was ugly but 1 Series? I don't think so.

I think current 7er is ugly facelift or no facelift.

With the 1 series the side profile looks pretty but the front just looks dumpy and frumpy like and the rear end just isnt sleek at all. The back end looks dated and old.

Not that it would probably change your mind... but you haven't even seen the car in real life yet. OK we get it, you don't see how anyone can find the car attractive, but some others will. it's that simply

For example, I can say that the car in your avatar isn't attractive at all, but that would just be MY opinion.

LoL Warot thats pointless. Doesnt matter if he see it IRL, as long its a bmw badge you wont see Poverty liking it. All his 473 posts I cant recall he have said anything positive about bmw. Its against his nature to like bmw.

Re: Autobild: BMW 135i vs Audi S3 vs Golf R32 DSG

Dont be silly man I love BMW. Most my friends drive BMW 3 series. I do love audi more though.

And I have seen 1 series coupe in flesh as they had one on display ages ago when it was at the 02 arena (previously known as the millenium dome). I saw the 1 series coupe like 5 times as I always go there on nights out

People didnt really pay much notice to the car though. I had a feeling BMW was a bit disapointed. No one stopping to staire or turning their heads.

LOL That's the part that changed the most with the facelift. New rear lights with LED stripes. Dated? And if you're talking about the 1er Coupe which is barely on the streets yet so are you saying it looks dated already? I don't think the A3 even has LED-lights, does it?

EDIT: Oh, now I see it. The back end of the 1 Series Coupe definitely looks old and dated compared to the new and fresh design of the S3's rear end.

Really? you love BMW? cant be Bangle bmw can it?

PS I hate it but people do look at my car when I drive it in the city but what do I know, they migth find me attractive and not the car . Heck, sometimes when I get out of the store and walking towards my car, I see people standing and looking at my car. I just hate it, just getting me nervous that people have done something bad with my car. Now, Im not saying everyone look at my car but it does happen, more often than I thought. Luckily its not a Ferrari I own, I bet they get a lot of attention and that would just make me sweat. I'm not an attention whore

I take it there are not alot of BMW's in your country. In the UK you cannot escape them. BMW company cars everywhere.

S3 design is a oldie but its a goodie. Minimalistic conservative design audi is famous for at near perfection. Just like how people say the audi 80 is still beautiful and looks and has stood the time much better than equivelant bmw or mercedes.

there are many many bimmers in Sweden however sales for A4 is better than 3-series and sales for 5-series are better than A6. For being a Volvoland there are many bimmers, benzes and audis in Sweden. Not every swedes are patriots

S3 just look plain to me. I have never liked A3 and S3 wont help either although it look better than standard A3. I guess its too minimalistic for my taste.
