You can buy an E39 M5 for 35k, how much is the Audi?

no clue.... why? If you are comparing the price....back in 1998 it would be way more expensive than 39K....

true. I actually like the S6 but I dont know about it compared with 550i. I voted for the S6 (naturally) but I wish I knew the price now that I know the 5 is closer to its performance.

one thing that you should realize is that there is no competetor from BMW that competes with th S6...M5 is too powerful.....550i seems like it is not powerful enough....its closer to the 550i so that would be its competetor.....I'm actually guessing that the price is less than the RS4 and S8 so from 60,000 to 70,000 dollars.

hopefully. Id be curious as to which car is better around a track, S6 or 550i. I wish we had more Nurb times...

at the ring of course the S6 but at hockenheim a 550i with sportpackage has a chance to beat the S6

why do you think that? Becuase of long straightaways at nurb. It will be interesting can't wait till the mags start comparing the S6 with M5 or 550i.

I voted for 550i ... might sound strange but I didn't like the S6 ... I hate the idea of a powerful car with AWD ... if it was the new E500 with 5.5L .. I would vote for that instead ..

why do you vote for E550 instead? Cause it has more horsepowers? Anyway, E550 wouldn't help for me.

Just_me: I know it is less fun to drive compared to 550i .. but I dunno .. i find the E500 with sport package more attractive than the 550 ... BTW here in UAE u could have the "M5 Look" for almost 10K Euro .. no one could tell it is a 550 .. and that might help the looks of the 550 .. but it will be redicoulesly pricy ..

I find the sportpackage for E-class boring. I rather choose the one that remind me of the mighty M5

not at all...theres nothing special about the Audi...its just more expensive and has those goofy LED's

I don't think this is a fair comparo for the E500. Now the FL E500(550) with 388hp and the recently introduced sport package will be a more fit comparo. Until then the current 302hp E500 is toast here. Plus the S6 is a tuner model while E500 and 550i are just "regular" versions.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but some of these comments are just becoming tiresome. It seems like a majority of the posts (or like half) from sunnyman12 are bashing an Audi in some way. He'll probably say that I'm just Audi fanboy that can't take criticism, but it's definitely not true. I can't say his posts are wrong in that they're against forum rules or anything (even though one could make that argument based on martinbo's comments in another thread), but they are sure pushing that line. I was actually surprised to see that you indeed liked the B5 chassis A4, but I think that was the only positive Audi comment you've had. I am a fan of Audi over BMW, but I do cede to BMW the places where there cars are superior to Audis.

You're welcome to bash Audi all you want when you think the LEDs look "goofy" and all, but it just seems the quality is lacking in some of your posts.

Maybe someone here can provide their observations (even though this somewhat off-topic).

Though call between the S6 and 550i... the E wasn't even on the radar.

i also realizze that this is quite unfair.......especially with the E500 but what other german car is it gonna compete with.it cant compete with the E55 or M5 or it will be bashed.

I'm surprised how many people voted for the E500 which is, as Merc1 said, toast compared to the others. The engine is almost antique. Crazy indeed...

Come on, the E500 isn't that bad. The only problem with the car might be the slight aged exterior.
