M3 was a massive 5 secs faster than the other 2. Hardly any gap between the Merc and the Audi. But the Audi looked much more tidier and cleaner around the track than the C63 which looked handful even for Stig and way out of shape at almost every turn. And what is worse, it destroyed its tires to the cords. It was faster in a straight line though.

M3: 2.38.9
C63: 2.43.5
RS4: 2.43.9

Here are the videos (from M3 post):

Hahhahahahahhahah!! Can't stop laughing!

quote: BMW owners has no friends! :Dah hahhhhaha!
last when Jeremy dress like a BMW owner - I agree 110%

Haha that was so funny!

Looked like great fun!

No wonder the tires on the Mercedes looked a bit worn...

Those are awesome machines! I would prefer the C-Class - just because of its sound...

I would take the merc. I wonder what tires the BMW was wearing compared to the competition though as from what most reviews have said there isnt much between the C63 and the M3.

It's a pitty they do not tell. All three have R-tire options and for the sake of comparison they should all have the same.

The only other side by side track test I have seen was the one by Evo and that was performed on a wet track and none of the cars was using r-tires. The result was about the same as here.

The bimmer is just phenomenal, no wait it's "Sublime" :D Kudos also for Audi, the RS4 did very well considering its age, the Merc is a big dissapointement, and i honestly don't understand all the fuss about its engine noise which i find way far from the refinement of both bavarian engines music.

That was awesome and very entertaining. The M3 is the most balanced car standing in the middle between the other two Germans. It's neither brutal not restrained. I'm loving the C63, pure 80s AMG brutality. Turning the ESP off will send any over confident driver to the nearest morgue.

This is very true! The M3 is the natural choice for the driver who seeks the most rewarding driving dynamics in the class. Maybe the C63 desperately needs the sport package to get its balance (and pace) but then it will even further compromise its on-the-road capabilities. It will for sure make it quicker on track but im guessing (judging from the first Evo review when the C63 was presented - the journalists got to drive a non sport package car on ordinary roads and a sport package car on track) that it then will border on the level of hardcore represented by the previous generation CSL and that will not be too popular with expecially English magazines like Evo who find ordinary road capabilities very important.

Edit: I did not mean to say the C63 was a bad car in any way, just that it - thank god - is different from the M3.

It's always a pleasure to hear when someone change their mind about a car once they have had the chance to explore a car for some time.
And cudos goes to people that are honest and admit they were wrong about something. So creds to Clarkson and the May dude.

Makes you wonder how many here on this board would be honest after a testdrive and saying, "I were wrong , this car is the better car than the other one I claimed was the best". Reading reviews and looking at numbers is nothing compare to your own feelings and a real-life experience. A own real-life experience tells you much more and is way more important than a text on a piece of paper.

:t-cheers:

What a great christmas present :)

German cars rock!! :)

P.S. I sooo wait for the RS5

Between this test and the Evo test, where the M3 was 3 secs faster than C63 in a a even smaller track, it proves, if anything, M3 has extended it's lead over the AMG when it comes to handling and track performance. The previous generation was much closer. Only thing left to be seen is the Super test ring time, where I expect the AMG to have an advantage due the track's high speed nature.

I think so too. That time will be much closer to that of the M3.

After watching the laps more than one time i realised just how mad and insane the C63 really is!!

Even Top Gear's racing driver the Stig is barely controlling the car...damn!!

I'd love to drive hard that monster but with ESP on please:D
