I'll go with the Lambo.. The SLR comes second. Don't like the Ferrari at all, don't like its look.

Re: 2 Italians & 1 German

All three are epic cars. Only one manages to make use of the pinnacle of modern automotive technology and be the whole that is more than the sum of its parts.

The incomparably complete and multi-talented 599 GTB.

Re: 2 Italians & 1 German

Nice compilation stats there. What is surprising is that LP640 has a higher redline yet makes lower HP/liter compared to the F599. LP640 is tempting for its epic looks, F599 gets my vote for being 'imho' better car.

lambornima will become famous soon enoughlambornima will become famous soon enough
Re: 2 Italians & 1 German

Id just like to add that in a striaght line, according to those who either own or have driven both the SLR is the fastest. the LP640 and 599 should be slightly faster from a roll, and LP640 from a dig.

the SLR with traction control on = no wheelspin traps 128 mph cosistantly and according to an owner, 60-80 km/h on a cool night and floor it...you will get TONS of wheelspin.

my choice is the LP640.

id modify it as such:

-new exhaust = 30 + whp and minus 100 lbs as the LP640 has the same exhaust as 6.2 Murcie
-convert to rwd = another 30 whp minus another 150-200 lbs
-CF clutch = + 10 whp according to a guy who did it
-CF seats = take off another 70 lbs
-CF rims = off another 50 lbs (little more than 10 per coner)
-change hyraulic lift for electric = save another 30 lbs

all in all, quite a bit more hp going to the ground, off with ~400 lbs.

then if thats not enough you can always TT it

Re: 2 Italians & 1 German

Ferrari for me. The 599GTB beats the SLR at its own game for much less money and it is likely the better day to day car over the Lambo. Ferrari easily IMO.

Impressive data collection though I must say.

Lambo for me please. Love the looks of it a lot more than both of the other ones.

Re: 2 Italians & 1 German

Despite Top Gear's laptime result on their mono-dimensional and inconsistent test track my vote goes with what has to be the best and most completely engineered road car in the world.

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

P.S. Did anyone watch the Megafactories program on National Geographic channel? It documents the production process of the 599 GTB through the Maranello factory. Amazing - what a sophisticated piece of machinery...

Of course, that's only a personal opinion of mine. But yes, taking it from a viability standpoint I'd say that any car that costs 10 times more to produce than what it sells for can't possibly qualify as an engineering success. Whilst it is pure overkill and a superlative effort, as a loss maker of epic proportions the Veyron will always be the epitome of automotive over-spending.
