...and the S600 looks better IMO...

Seriously though, why would I fight with Merc1 about this -- I would still rather own an A8 ...and I would also choose the S class before the Bentley.

I would go for the S-Class! The electronic limit of 250 km/h isn't really a reason for not buying the S 600! And the acceleration is even faster - 4 seconds to 200 km/h is a lot...

It says the Merc is 1,4 seconds faster to 200 kph.

Hmmm... I will scan the AMS, where the S 600 and the Flying Spur were tested separate!

are you sure your figures are correct -- are you quoting S65 numbers? The S600 reaches 0-100kph in 5.51 sec. The S65 does it in 4.4

This isn't making any sense to me then. The Flying Spur was officially the fastest saloon in the world untill the W221 S65 (and Maybach 57 S) -- I just assumed this included acceleration too.

I'm confused. According to Autoweek the S600 is not as quick as in AMS's test.

Wow, the S600 torque figure is crazy, one would not believe that the car is that fast.
As for the comparison itself, the Flying Spur does look more exclusive in the pictures and has that Ritz Carlton aura around it.

This is no contest. Other than the more exclusive interior and prestige of the "Bentley" name, the Flying Brick has nothing on the Mercedes. It has more hp and more gears, yet gets smoked in every acceleration test.

Autoweek is the only test you'll every find with a time that slow for a 0-60 run, so ignore it. It was an abnormality.

The S-Class is the best luxury sedan in the world, period.

You know what they say,if you have difficulties in choosing,buy them both.

The convertible Bentley might tempt me, the Continental GTC, but the sedan and the gawd awful coupe there is no way in hell.

I just don't find the Bentley Continental FS to be all that special in spite of their high price etc. -- there's just no X-factor with them -- I just can't see much point in buying a FS over an S class.

You're right, there is no real X-factor! If you really need an individual automobile in that class, you should go for a Volkswagen Phaeton W12!!
