The funny thing is though, I really want to like the LS460L. The car is a true luxury car and compared the LS430 it looks so much better inside and out, but it just doesn't push the right buttons. My favorite Lexus remains the IS350 and the upcoming LF-A.

Lexus always seems to have fundamental flaws like a small boot as well as bad brakes that many of their fans overlook.

Now we've seen several reviews mentioning its brakes, I hope they will address it soon.

MB deserves this win. It does it perfect unlike any other.

I'd still take the LS over the 750i, and the XJ8!

Apparently it was also the ride quality: too soft. Our roads here are windy and twisty, so handling is important. Under the LS, they said that it "lacks the dynamics of the European competition". I take that to mean handling and agility.

It also doesn't help that they don't offer a smaller V6 or a diesel. They're not being competitive at all with an LS460 and an upcoming LS600h.

I guess the ride quality thing is kinda subjective. After all, it's a Lexus trademark. Some people may not like it but it's what Lexus is all about - besides, I don't think Lexus focuses much of its efforts on Europe (yet). Hence its offerings may fall short of the European market requirements, like you mentioned, about the twisty roads. But no doubt the US will lick this up for sure.

I like Lexus' method of not offering a smaller V6. Keeps the car exclusive IMO. But yes, I do love to see a proper V8 diesel in the LS.
