2008 Infiniti QX56

Move over Escalade, there is a new King in the SUV Market

Full-size luxury sport utility vehicle

the thing that I personally like about it is Nissan/Infiniti's commitment to quality and high end technology. This thing has 320 bhp, the Escalade has 400 but the QX feels quicker and more powerfull. Also the QX comes standard with a navigation system.

Following a record setting sales trend and the successful launch of the all-new G sedan, Infiniti is keeping the momentum going with the unveiling of the 2008 Infiniti QX full-size luxury sport utility vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
With a new interior and refined exterior, Infiniti is enhancing and improving what customers already love about the QX - styling, technology, comfort - without compromising its towing capacity and interior roominess.

"Like the all-new G Sedan, the 2008 QX demonstrates Infiniti's philosophy of constantly evolving in the competitive luxury segment," said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager of Infiniti. "Despite being voted by consumers as top in its class in the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, we've given the new QX significant upgrades in the areas of interior design, performance, luxury features, and technology."
The new QX, which goes on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in April 2007, is the first major revision since it joined the luxury SUV scene in 2004 with a number of class-leading standard features. The exterior enhancements to the new QX include new front and rear fascias, new front fog lamps, new roof rack, standard 20-inch chromed aluminum-alloy wheels, and two new exterior colors - Lakeshore Slate and Serengeti Sand.
The QX's new interior is highlighted by a new instrument panel cluster design with Fine Vision electroluminescent instrumentation and a new genuine wood grain interior trim. Comfort and convenience is enhanced with a new 3rd-row power folding seat, standard heated steering wheel on the 4WD model, and a new stone interior.
Technological advancements include a new standard Premium Audio System with Bose® Speakers, Burr-Brown Digital Audio Converter and 9.5-gigabyte Music Box hard drive and compact flash slot for playing MP3 files, Infiniti Navigation system and Intelligent Key.
Also available is an Infiniti Mobile Entertainment System with a larger screen (8.0 inches versus the previous 7.0), and a standard XM® NavTraffic™ system with real-time traffic information (requires active XM® satellite radio subscription) - which allows drivers to chose the most efficient route to get to their destination.
The QX maintains its class-leading 2nd row roominess, go-anywhere ruggedness and the abundant power and up to 9,000-pound towing capability (when properly equipped) of the standard 320-horsepower DOHC 5.6-liter V8 engine.
Infiniti is keeping to its promise of delivering three new cars in thirteen months by introducing the next-generation Infiniti G Coupe and a new crossover sport utility concept at the 2007 New York International Auto Show in April.
New 2008 Infiniti QX56 Ups the Ante in the Luxury SUV Marketplace

The 2008 model marks the first major revision of the Infiniti QX56 full-size luxury SUV, which burst onto the luxury SUV scene in 2004 with a number of class-leading standard features.

The QX56 continues to set the standard for luxury, performance and technology. Voted as top in its class in the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, the QX56 is enhanced for the 2008 model year with a revised exterior and interior, and new technical features.
The QX56 maintains its class-leading 2nd row roominess, go-anywhere ruggedness and the abundant power and up to 9,000-pound towing capability (when properly equipped) of the standard 320-horsepower DOHC 5.6-liter V8 engine. The 2008 QX56 is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in spring 2007.

The major exterior enhancements to the QX56 include new front and rear fascias, new front fog lights, new roof rack, standard 20x8J chromed aluminum-alloy wheels and heavy-duty P275/60R20 Michelin tires, and new exterior colors - Lakeshore Slate and Serengeti Sand.

Inside, comfort and convenience is enhanced with a new 3rd-row power folding seat, standard heated steering wheel on 4WD, and new interior colors. Trim and wood designs add a rich aspect to the interior, while the standard Burr-Brown? audio system with 9.5-gigabyte Music Box hard drive and compact flash slot for playing MP3 files, Infiniti Navigation system and standard Intelligent Key add a technological twist.

Also available is an Infiniti Mobile Entertainment System with a larger screen (8.0 inches versus the previous 7.0), and an XM® NavTraffic™ system with real-time traffic information (requires active XM® satellite radio subscription) - which ensure that drivers and passengers get to their destination quickly and safely.

"The original QX56 has been an owner favorite, and for 2008, the new QX56 takes the qualities that make it a top SUV even further, with more style, more features and more luxury," said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager, Infiniti Division. "We think of the QX56 as 'an executive suite on wheels,' and the new model, with its technological refinement and class-leading attributes, certainly fits the bill."

At a Glance

The 2008 model year marks a redesign for the popular, full-size Infiniti QX56 sport utility vehicle, with new exterior features, interior enhancements and new technology. The myriad changes to the new QX56, which goes on sale in spring 2007, are designed to enhance the traditional virtues of the QX - which consumers voted as top in its class in the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.
The 2008 QX56 features new front and rear fascias, new front fog lights, a revised one-piece roof rack design and new standard 20x8J-inch chromed aluminum-alloy wheels and heavy-duty P275/60R20 Michelin tires. Two new exterior colors, Lakeshore Slate and Serengeti Sand, are also offered.
Inside, the new QX56 adds a power-folding 3rd row 60/40 split seat, new illuminated steering wheel controls, new designs and colors for the instrument cluster, a lockable glove box, a new Stone interior color (in addition to Wheat and Charcoal) and new wood grain interior trim.
New standard equipment includes a Burr-Brown® audio system with 9.5-gigabyte Music Box hard drive and standard Intelligent Key. Why is the horsepower output so dismal? I thought this was only a characteristic of some American cars (big displacement, disproportionately small HP)

The "King" of this segment is either the GL550 or the Range Rover Supercharged, take your pick.....but it ain't this thing.

Re: 2008 Infiniti QX56

You can tell this thing is based on a pickup. The shape of the rear door and the side profile gave it away. Who the hell will buy one of these?

Re: 2008 Infiniti QX56

tough crowd i hear you, but this thing has features standard that the Escalade does not. Like keyless ignition and a navigation system that is voice activated. It may not be the prettiest SUV out there, but I dig it.

There are better cars out there, don't buy it because it has more standard feature than the competitors. This car is an after thought from Nissan, you can clearly see it. This isn't a fully new version, just a facelift, so you are better off buying newer cars from Lexus or other euro brands. How much does it cost compare to its competitors?

I just dont' want to get it because it has more standard features, I am still considering the Escalade and I was considering the Lexus LX570. The Escalade does not have intelligent key, we have been using intelligent key since Nissan came out with it back in 2004. Cadillac Escalade just implemented outdated remote start. The LX is a great truck, but for 74k it does not have HID lighting. So it's a trade off, and from researching the vehicles the QX56 has the best reliability of the 3.

We were thinkiing Range Rover, but I have researched that and I'm yet to find one person that is satisfied with it. Besides my neighbor had one and it has been at the dealer going on 6 weeks now, it needs some kind of module. She just got it and it broke down already and it's a 2008 and he she has only made 2 payments on it

74k and no HID lighting ! I thought Lexus throw in every single piece of equipment into their high end cars, the LX570 comes fully loaded in Australia.

Stay away from the Range Rovers, they are not reliable at all, even if they look very desirable.

Since you are an Audi fan, why not give the Audi Q7 a look? They are spacious and stylish, plus they have decent handling.

Re: 2008 Infiniti QX56

I don't know technically, but it is ugly as hell.

Why not a Q7, I think it is better in every points! Or a GL, even better imo, but maybe a bit expensive...

My personnal favourite suv was, is, and surely will stay the gorgeous Mercedes G, with AMG bodykit. And by far.
But technically it may lack some little features... Still very modern for his soon 30 years old. You know what we say about good wine.

I would give the Q7 a try, and the GL too. This Infinity looks garbage, imo. If size is not that important, the X5 and ML surely are amongst the very best SUVs money can buy.

Sounds a bit German-oriented, but they have no real competition if you don't want the Lexus.

The reason they do that is because of the ride height.

We wanted to go with it, but when we saw them in person we saw the cheap gray plastic that they put on the bottom of the SUV. With time even if you take care of it, it will begin to fade and get spotted. So...

lol...don't be surprised when I post back and tell you
guys that I have gotten her an Escalade instead..Just remembered QX
has HID but no projectors.

You can option the Q7 with painted plastic trims. I just saw one today with that done, they look very good.

I haven't seen it optioned from the dealer that way, I have seen custom paint added to those peices on a few at autoshows.

Re: 2008 Infiniti QX56

Hey Kovachian and monster, you guys were right. Full body paint is offered as an option. I can't believe I claim to be a connoisseur of automobiles and I didn't even know that after researching the Q7. Thanks guys....I have no narrowed my decision to the Q7, the Escalade, and the GL.

Re: 2008 Infiniti QX56

We talked it over and just to update you guys, she wants the QX. The reliability and the customer service also helped in the matter. And this level of luxury with the use of an intelligent key is the what she is used to..
