Shows what a big difference pic shots can make. All official shots, but in the latest tycoon posts the exterior now looks banging hot and the interior crap. Wow

Re: Mercedes-Benz Vision GLK FREESIDE Concept @ 2008 NAIAS

This is yummie. Looks very sporty despite the sterile body shape, mostly thanks to mercedes signiture tail lights which give the illusion that the car is going forward, the declining character lines adds to that as well.

Very attractive design to say the least and it will look even better with time.

Yep, that side profile looks very nice.

And those rims look exactly like those from BMW, almost identical.

Yeah, that profile is better in that colour ...no doubt about that. But it still already looks dated compared with what BMW, Cadillac, and Audi are doing.

Glad they got rid of the stupid 2 tone paint scheme - it was downright cheap. Looks pretty good now.

Re: Mercedes-Benz Vision GLK FREESIDE Concept @ 2008 NAIAS

It isn't the exterior that bothers me, it is the interior. Specifically that center stack. Yikes it is plain as day and covered in same sized buttons. This appears to be where Mercedes is going with the next E-Class too. Hopefully it will look better by the time it shows up around the corner from me.

I'm with Marcus. I might get used to exterior, but interior is definitely a big disappointment.:

Re: Mercedes-Benz Vision GLK FREESIDE Concept @ 2008 NAIAS

The interior is great and in keeping with the product image of the vehicle. It's blocky and square and tough looking like it was made in a Mercedes factory in 1989. It looks like your ADSD two year old could take to it with a hammer and it would be none the worse off. It looks like an interior that belongs in an SUV and not some dubiously classified "activity" vehicle.

Oh well, that my first impression at least judging from the pics...

Re: Mercedes Vision GLK FREESIDE & TOWNSIDE Concepts @ 2008 NAIAS

Eeek...look at the exhaust tips. Don't worry I just called Studdergart and they won't make production.

So there will be 2 versions, one for on road and one for off. Nice. This is really going to be a hit. Kinda makes you wonder what the ML's life will be like. People are going to see GL and GLK, suddenly "ML" doesn't fit. ML + facelift = needed right away.

I guess this isn't too bad for a squared off, boxy SUV, but it still needs wood on the right side in front of the passenger, around the center console surround and most of all beige or cashmere trim plastics. I'm getting tired of German charcoal bins being passed off as "interiors".

For some reason when I see the GLK interior I always think of the W124 interior. It looks so similar in a way.

The interior gonna be just fine. I think they not giving too much away with that smwhat black n white pic but when you see it in the right colours and combo it's quite nice actually. No worries there

It's perfect! The rims on the white one are disgusting but the ones on the blue car are delicious. I hope that MB will manufacture them because there aren't many multi spoke rims in the program.

I don't like this line that is marked red in the picture. IMO it descends too steeply and and as result doesn't flow with the other lines on the car. It makes the side look a bit awkward.

Now that's a nice ute!
So we can gather now that (kinda like the w204 has avantgarde and elegance) the glk will be sold as 'freeside' model (Offroad) with slightly diff exterior mods, suspension settings, etc and 'townside' which basically is for 'rodeo drive'. Quite interesting

What version is this? I'll have this for, eh, 'offroading' thank you very much!

Certainly looks better in the other colours, but I'm still not overly fond of the vehicle...

The line along with the leaning tail lights are very important because they give the impression that the car is going forward, which makes it look young and sporty.
