Haha, before I scrolled down all the way, I went to Mercedes-Benz USA to see what the car would look like! Only thing I would do different would be getting the Heat Package... but then again, I live in New England!

That tan interior looks gorgous... perfect match between the leather and wood! I can't wait to see real pictures of it.

Alabaster white really is a great color, which we saw on your S550, and is a great colour for SUV's as well. And your interior choice is perfect!

Thanks. If you get the heating package, you can't get the Wood/Leather wheel. I don't think I'll miss it in the desert...:-)

Thanks Zonda. I took some stuff to the dry cleaners this morning and there was a white GL at the stop sign. It really looked great...I had seen it on the dealers lot but not on the street. Looking forward to it.

God that GL looks great in white. At first I thought that whitee was a color that didn't look too good on the GL: how wrong I was.

And the interior color combination is perfect. I myself like those combinations of light colors. Looks much better than the somewhat dull darker interiors.

Especially with Macadamia Leather this is going to be the best looking GL in America...

Only a German brand would dare have 20K in options. Mercedes and even more so Porsche are just masters of this. Oh well you have to do it in order to make the car "right" for you.

Jack, My brand new GL will be ready by the end of next week. It may take a little longer as they are adding the running boards once it gets to the dealer. I'm worried that I won't like the white color. My kids think it is ugly and they are rubbing off on me somewhat. When I ordered it a few months ago, I was crazy for the white. I have since seen a few silvers and blacks that look so great. Can't do anything about it anyway --I'm dying for the car--I guess I'll get used to it. Your thoughts on white. ( I'm a soccer mom toting around 3 little ones with big opinions! )

Slimmom, first of all, let me wish you a warm welcome to the forum and my congratulations on a great choice of car.

As for the color - it's your car and what you think is the best color is the only thing that matters. That said, there are many people on this forum alone who would probably go for the white if they were getting a GL, so you needn't worry, it's a popular color after all.

I hope you'll enjoy that new ride of yours and, should you feel like it, feel free to post some pictures of it here for us to enjoy.

Hi slimmom...I am a white car fan so a poor one to confirm a white color choice... I have to agree with Mike J...it is your choice and don't be swayed by the "big opinions" of the little ones. When they grow up they can have any color they want. Black looks terrific when clean but really needs upkeep to keep it looking like it has just been washed. Silver is nice but kind of boring and quite common these days.

You will love the white GL... Here is a pic I took of one at a local dealer...pretty nice, huh...

Thanks Mike and Jack. Jack, our cars are very similar--no distronic for me because I never use it. Different running boards and steering wheel but otherwise the same. Agree silver gets tiresome--hubby had a silver S class for the last couple years and recently bought a BMW 750 LI in charcoal grey--great color for that car and a GREAT car.

This might console you a bit. I used to think white was a color that simply didn't suit the GL at all. Then I saw a couple of shots of white GL's and the color became more and more appealing. Right now, I think white is a pretty classy color for the GL.

I just had the truck delivered last night at 7 pm. What a great Valentine's Day present. It's beautiful! They forgot to install bluetooth and I still need my running boards which are back ordered and then I will post a pic. My husband drove it last night but believe it or not--I have not driven it yet--too busy with the kids last night and today I need to study for an exam ( grad student ) Life is getting in the way of my fun!!! One thing for sure--white is a great color for this SUV!

Off-topic, but I just wanted to ask you, Jack, what you think of this S-Class interior color combination.

IMO, it is one of the BEST S-Class interiors I've ever seen from a color and wood combination point of view.

Absolutely beautiful...would choose it in a minute! Love the tones and contrast.

Some little issues that I hope can be fixed when I take it in for the running boards. The back doors do not close easily ( both sides ). When the kids get in, they sometimes must close the door 2 or 3 times before it closes properly. I have had to pull over a few times and get out to close the door myself. The back hatch does not fully rise--I'm a 5'9" woman and the hatch opens eye level. I must then manually push it all the way up. I have bumped my head on the thing.

Anyone else have these issues? I really hope it can be adjusted.

I'm sure they can adjust the doors...MB doors usually close with a good thunk. If you have the power trunk opener/closer you may check and see if you can adjust the opening heigth. My S Class can be adjusted using COMAND vehicle selectlon. I don't know the buttons in the GL but check "setting" or "vehicle" and you may find a page to adjust it.
