| Adrian Newey to join Red Bull in 2006 From: Racing-Live.com Adrian is leaving McLaren Adrian Newey is one of the most famous F1 engineers, having worked at Williams and then McLaren since the 90s. Newey has decided to leave McLaren to join Red Bull Racing as Chief Technical Officer. Newey came close to join the team (named Jaguar at that time) in 2001 but Ron Dennis managed to convince his engineer to stay for a few more years. Newey will join Red Bull at the end of February 2006. In 1981, Adrian Newey started his career at March Engineering, where he designed IMSA prototypes and then single seaters for the CART series. His first F1 design was the March 881. Newey stayed with the team as Technical Director when Leyton House took over but later joined Williams, where he stayed from 1990 to 1997. During that period, the team won the constructors’ championship in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996 and 1997. Newey continued his successful career at McLaren Mercedes from 1998 until now, helping the team to win two drivers’ championship titles with Mika Hakkinen and many victories throughout this period. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This guy has done amazing job for McLaren in all those years. ![]()

| Re: Adrian Newey to join Red Bull in 2006 Does that mean Fernando Alonso wins again? I hope Kimi wins one. I think Kimi is a better driver, but hard-lucked. Newey is an important man as is Rory Byrne. Byrne didn't handle the entire design of the F2005 Ferrari. Every pundit blames Bridgestone for what happened to Ferrari in 2005, but I think that is being very one-sided. F1 lost me as a fan last year with their crazy rule changes. In 2006, I might watch a few. The qualifying system is stupid and the old 12-lap format was exciting and required skill to pick an open-track at the end of the session. |

| Re: Adrian Newey to join Red Bull in 2006 This won't affect the 2006 season in a negative way for McLaren because he still designed and worked on the 2006 car. |

| Re: Adrian Newey to join Red Bull in 2006 Well leave him go maybe there's a new challege await him.He will enjoy it at redbull ferrari..Wish him good luck. He alreally almost did to join Jaguar back to 2001 and R.Dennis fought tooth and nail to make hime stay.Ever since he isn't a mclaren man through and through. His departure won't harm mclaren in the future cause the formed design team at MTC already had been ready for his leaving.

| Re: Adrian Newey to join Red Bull in 2006 I hope you lads are correct after Mclaren not being hampered by the departure. I don't much like Renault. Actually, I don't like Flav or most other team bosses. By the way, I saw a great license plate the other day. Some lad had a SENNA 1 plate on a Honda. It's been a long time since Senna's death. I wonder if he'd be a team boss had he lived. |

| Re: Adrian Newey to join Red Bull in 2006 I really don't think his departure will do any short term damage to the team... longer term if they can't find someone equally good or better, then the chassis design will just go wrong and then screw up... but with Ron Dennis, this should never happen. |
