| Pathetic and underhanded way of trying to gain a position. Now I'm rooting for Brawn Mercedes. Would love to see a duel between Button and Barichello this year with Mercedes power and Brawn leadership.

| I think McLaren should know by now that their every act will be scrutinsed to the last detail by the FIA no matter what. If McLaren is found to have done something wrong, the FIA will try to find a reason to impose the harshest possible punishment upon McLaren. We have seen many times in the past. I would be extremely disappointed if McLaren did lie to the FIA. But there is however, a difference between lying and being economical with the truth. Nothing wrong about the latter. One just say enough to satisfy the inquiry and not implicate oneself. But one thing I am certain of is this: If it was Ferrari or any other teams for that matter, the FIA would have just taken their testimony at face value and that would be it. Case closed. Also, don't harbour any hate towards Toyota. They need to score some points to continue in Formula 1. Also, they kind of helped McLaren and Hamilton to win the Driver's title last year. Am I going to watch the Malaysian and Chinese F1 race................Nope! |

| Quote: I was under the impression Hamilton let Trulli retake the position. Update: I just found a transcript of the radio transmission: TRANSCRIPT OF THE RADIO TRANSMISSION Lewis Hamilton: The Toyota went off in a line at the second corner, I overtook him, is that OK? Team: Understood, Lewis. We'll confirm and get back to you. LH: He was off the track. He went wide. Team: Lewis, you need to allow the Toyota through. Allow the Toyota through now. LH: OK. LH: He's slowed right down in front of me. Team: OK, Lewis. Stay ahead for the time being. Stay ahead. We will get back to you. We are talking to Charlie. LH: I let him past already. Team: OK, Lewis. That's fine. That's fine. Hold position. Hold position. LH: Tell Charlie I already overtook him. I just let him past. Team: I understand Lewis. We are checking. Now can we go to yellow G 5, yellow Golf 5. LH: I don't have to let him past I should be able to take that position back, if he made a mistake. Team: Yes, we understand Lewis. Let's just do it by the book. We are asking Charlie now. You are in P4. If you hold this position. Just keep it together... ...Team: OK, Lewis, this is the last lap. At the end of the lap the safety car will come in, you just proceed over the line without overtaking, without overtaking. We are looking into the Trulli thing, but just hold position. | He did. But he lied to the stewards in the original inquiry that he didn't slow down to let Trulli through. Which means Trulli passed him under saftery car and was penalized. But in an interview right after the race with speed TV he said he let did slow down to let Trulli through which means Trulli really didn't do anything wrong and that Hamilton lied to the stewards to get Trulli penalized - probably the worst thing to do, knowingly lying to get someone else penalized. |

| The entire team and Hamilton is to blame. Everyone who listened to the team radio and knew of what Hamilton said to the Stewards are equally as guilty, and Mclaren know this. This is why they won't file for an appeal since they are aware of their cold face lie to the stewards. There is zero defence. |

I don't understand why they wouldn't just say as much (maybe they did, and that was the 'lie'), or admit they let Trulli retake the position. Now they've lost all their points and their reputation.

No. He explicitly said in the speed TV interview he slowed down to let Trulli pass. Also there is the radio communication in which he explicitly says "I let him past already". Anyway he himself admitted to the lying today. His excuse was the "team asked him to". So any discussion about his honesty is pretty moot at this point. | |

| Haha, then you should not be claiming he possibly slowed down for tires/brakes. Anyway, I don't think there is anything more to discuss here. He/They lied, got caught, was penalized. He/They admitted to it and apologized and have to now live with it. We can all decide on our own if we want to forgive/forget about it. |

I still don't understand why Hamilton, or McLaren, risked losing all their points for one position, though. Reading the radio transcript you get the feeling Hamilton felt third was his because Trulli went off the track. But if that's the case, then why didn't they ask the stewards to make Hamilton officially finish 3rd and not try to weasel it through..? ![]()
