| Re: 2008 Italian Grand Prix Do you talk seriously ? Hamilon was flying in the beginning but not in his 3rd stint (i am not talking about the second cause of the wrong tyre choice) and you cannot possibly compare the STR to the mclaren bomb, there's absolutely no luck here, the guy sticked to his strategy and drived in a supreme way, making a gap worth of 12S with heikki on his stellar mclaren was just unblievably phenomenal.

Hamilton shouldn't have switched to wet tires I had a feeling that was going to be a bad decision. Other than that he drove great for most of the race

Not to take anything away from Hamilton who drove brilliantly for the most of the race. But to discount what Vettel did with a Torro Rosso is also stupidity.

| Re: 2008 Italian Grand Prix Im happy for Toro Rosso and Vettel A bit of luck was needed..but it was a huge acomplishment still and frankly i would replace massa, kimi or heikki by this dude.. He seems to be hungry.. Young blood is always good in motor sports Just look at hamilton..since he arrived F1 has been worth watching Not only cause he rocks.. but he is acutally novice enough to maybe **** it up in the end..and that thrills the crowds.. He is not mature like schumacher.. ( wich is boring for the crowds but great for his team and himself)

I get the feeling that none of the drivers like Hamilton at all, and I can understand why. Call it jealously, but when Hamilton gets a top drive from the get go; gets pampered through his life towards the goal; refuses to join the drivers union; makes comments like "Kimi has no balls" despite the fact that all drivers (according to Kubica) have a fundamental respect for each other; and decides to try drive Webber and Glock off the road (Martin Brundles words, not mine)... it all seems to add up. Case in point, at Spa, very few drivers were very forgiving for Hamilton's penalty and none of them backed him. On the other hand, when Vettel wins, a person who is supposedly one of the warmest characters in F1, everyone and all the drivers are ecstatic for him. I think one day Karma is going to bite Hamilton in the ass.

![]() I think we ALL know how talented Hamilton is. No need to still try and prove that point. But at least give Vettel some credit for keeping his car out in front. Call it luck, call it talent.. call it whatever you like. The fact is Vettel crossed the line first and that should be applauded for a race run in such challenging conditions. ![]()

That doesn't mean he isn't a good driver, however, and it doesn't mean he didn't run a great race. He was lucky because he had an open field, but maybe he won because of a combination of chance, luck and skill. Maybe it was skill alone. Who knows.

Sorry about that But to luck: there was a factor of luck involved. He started ahead of the pack and stayed there (mostly) due to the clear field ahead of him, not because of "brilliance". If he hadn't, he might not have won. -- But then that's true for every driver, isn't it? ![]()

Usually every poleman (as I see it) is lucky. He has no one to worry about ahead of him. He can floor it through as many turns as he wants. ![]()

| Re: 2008 Italian Grand Prix Off course Vettel isn't a champion yet neither does the victory demonstrate that he's a top driver yet. But what it did prove along with Spa and Valencia is that he's maturing. During the beginning of the season he even had problems finishing a damn race but now he's finally driving less like a rookie and more like an F1 driver. |

| Re: 2008 Italian Grand Prix I wasn't talking about 'luck' pertaining to achieving the pole position (even though the 'usual' pole contenders had a few weather related problems during qualifying), but in regards to your ability to carry out the race, especially in the wet.

| Re: 2008 Italian Grand Prix I still can't accept the fact that Vettel actually won. Before the season began I even had my doubts that BMW would win a GP, never in a million years did I anticipate that the second slowest team on the grid would even stand on the podium. Alonso must be jealous as hell since Piquet, Rubbens, Webber, and not Vettel have made it on the podium. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It was Hamilton who asked the TV interviewers if Vettel had really won the race is his typical arrogant way.

| Re: 2008 Italian Grand Prix Rivals unhappy with Hamilton's driving ![]() A week after the Spa-Francorchamps penalty controversy, championship leader Lewis Hamilton's on-track antics are back in the spotlight. The McLaren driver got involved in some close encounters during Sunday's Italian Grand Prix, including with his old foe and former teammate, Fernando Alonso. "There was some unnecessary movements he made," the Spaniard told reporters in his native tongue at Monza, "and he repeated them with Glock and Webber. It is his way of racing." Toyota's Timo Glock was also not pleased when asked about Hamilton's driving. "I do not know what he was thinking. I was right next to him but he left me no room. Sometimes he drives as though he is completely alone on the track," the German is quoted as saying by RTL. "The next time I am with him (on track), I will behave with him in exactly the same way," Glock promised. 23-year-old Hamilton also made contact with Red Bull's Mark Webber during a wheel-to-wheel battle with the Australian at the first chicane. "I made sure I covered my inside spot, but I didn't want to stay there on the wet patch or I wouldn't have made the corner," the Briton explained afterwards. "He just clipped my front wheel and went on." F1live.com |

| Re: 2008 Italian Grand Prix What I meant is that Alonso must be frustrated over the fact that Renault has failed to deliver a car that enabled him to rise to the occasion and stand on the podium during races where the other top drivers have had problems. |

| Re: 2008 Italian Grand Prix If that kind of manouvers are allowed (he was close to provoke an accident at +200 kph, and that is not a small thing at all) then F1 could end up being a destruction derby. Do we want more high speed accidents in F1 due to the bad manners of some drivers? |
