Isn't this Volks "burning money are us" Vagen ?!

Still there is truth is that. With rules so stiff/closed and so much emphasis on aero-gremlins it's from production automobiles.

Re: FIA chief Max Mosley embroiled in S&M sex scandal

Porsche's decision not to get into F1 in respect to this scandal is a load of doodoo.

Especially considering that VAG has been too chicken shit to enter F1 for years now, finding every lame excusenot to compete with the big boys. I guess a competition-less LeMans is an easier avenue to take.

Re: FIA chief Max Mosley embroiled in S&M sex scandal

Sure F1 isn't exactly cheap as DTM but top of the line VAG cars can benefit from F1 technology, heck the CGT engine derived from Lemans, so I find it a bit sissy of Porsche to turn their back on a more hightech motor sport like F1.

Re: FIA chief Max Mosley embroiled in S&M sex scandal

Thing is F1 is a double edged sword for your image and Porsche knows about it better than anybody else, remember their past catastrophic adventure ? Imagine them entering now and being beaten by Spyker or Torro rosso, Porsche cannot allow that. And on the other hand their current image is diamonds worth and they don't need F1 to maintain it. So they have much to loose but little to gain from competing in F1.

Re: FIA chief Max Mosley embroiled in S&M sex scandal

PAG are obsessed with making huge profits. I'm sure the board and share holders are very happy, but I would love if they played around with the money a little, bought Super Aguri and joined F1.

^^
True. Just look at BMW, they are doing pretty well at the moment. If BMW can, then PAG&VAG can as well. They already have some of the world's best engineers for crying out loud.

Re: FIA chief Max Mosley embroiled in S&M sex scandal

The new ACO rules will make the Le Mans 24h and its affiliate series the most advanced in the world in therms of future green road relevant technology (and maybe HERF too if it will get going).
The only thing that F1 has to offer is a 5 year engine freeze and 2011 proposals for cheapo-spec-restricted 620 hp turbo engines.
This ain't exactly very attractive as cheap-restricted-spec on on hand and innovative-advanced on the other are 2 very different things.

If should simple in terms of engines, max power 1000 HP, max torque 500 Nm no other restrictions.

Re: FIA chief Max Mosley embroiled in S&M sex scandal

Funny hearing Ferdinand Piech complain about burning money? Veyron anyone?

But I agree, Porsche only stands to loose by entering F1 and loosing to other "less" sporty makers.

The funny thing with their excuse is that one of the major comptetion they are competing in, the FIA GT championship is also under the FIA's authority.

Re: FIA chief Max Mosley embroiled in S&M sex scandal

lol you guys make me laugh.

Its as if porsche and vw are boxers who are running away from a fight. Since when is it mandatory for a car manufacterer to enter F1.

Porsche has nothing to gain, F1 is a joke, its been so restricted that I cannot see any F1 technology making it into future roadcars.

Re: FIA chief Max Mosley embroiled in S&M sex scandal

We don't care about how realistic and manufacturable F1 technology can be, no it's even for that precise reason that winning in F1 is so much rewarding. You compete against the best of the best, everyone is searching for the absolute performance for any cost.

Well unfortunately there is truth in what you're saying, due to idiots like Balestre, Mosley, Ecclestone and the demands of some the fans who never got past the fact that this isn't 1967 anymore, resulting in restricting the shit out of it for the sakes of ww-racertainment & (supposed) driver-skill B*.

F1 needs to cut this B* and return to innovation.
