What rubbish -- it has very little in common with the W124 -- for God's sake, the W124 was a very stoic and subtle design -- it was an exemplary exercise in restraint and aesthetic purity -- this new E is much more dynamic and expressive -- the entire philosophy underpinning its styling is different.

You're right Rob, but again, you're looking too much into the philosophy and background motivations. most people here talk about how the looks feel or remind them of. and the w212 does have some common elements with the W124, or at least this is what comes to mind, because it was the last boxy E-class.

Not to turn this into a comparison, but I have seen both cars (W212 and F10) totally undisguised, and they both represent totally diffenrent design philosophy, each one of them represents a diffenrent interpritation fo what a mid-class luxury sedan should look like. You will just have to wait for the official pics of BOTH cars to start comparing them. None of the pictures you've seen so far deliver the base for a proper judgment - not even those totally uncovered E-class photos.

Yes.. a bit longer than 2 years ago I did an internship at AMG's design studio in Affalterbach

sorry mate These forums are public and i probabely have already said too much - scott, please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not allowed to publish any informations about future models. that's why I haven't posted any speculations about future Mercedes or BMW models in the spy pics sections for the last 2 years, because simply I do know how they look like () and I didn't want to give any infos away with out knowing it. I don't want to distroy my chance to work in one of these studios in the near future.. I hope you understand

I have outmost respect for the design department and I subscribe to Chris Bangle's thinking and creativity. Designers are very much a significant factor as they make the marketing department live up to their laurels. As well of course as providing some creative thinking to the engineers to make the car stand out amongst the competition.
In which we have to make the designers look good with our media presentations.

But the design department helps out marketing aswell. especially with photographs from excursions and holidays of architecture , sculptures , secluded coastal areas etc which inspire the designer also inspire us to fly and evaluate then eventually shoot their creation there.

You could say I have more "Foreign" experience than Sarah Palin

hmm.. my problem is: i don't know what's allowed and what's not.. well technically I'm not allowed to say anything. and talking generally as you suggested may mean tellung too much, maybe neither to you nor to me but to the people who are in charge. that's the first point. the second one is: talking generally about influences etc. won't help you much, as a matter of fact you can just take a look at the spy pics to have much better general idea of the car than what you would learn from my posts
