Honestly, I donīt see the point of make this car with softtop, my father for example has never liked cabrios because of this, but since he saw the E93 3er he is really thinkking in buying one when he changes his current car.

Wind Deflector/Soft Top

I have not been following this very closely but I thought this was supposed to be a hardtop convertible? What is the big attachment on the front of the windshield in the top down shots? Not in my future if it remains a soft top...

With the top down, we can see the test car's unique air deflector. Taking the shape of a mini-spoiler over the windscreen, the item is sure to cause a stir amongst Mercedes fans. Should the piece stay on the final version of the car, it will likely polarize those interested in the E-class into two groups: one that likes the function, and one that hates the look.

I just lost interest in this MB! A soft top is bad enought of a dissappointment but throw on that ugly "whatever" hanging on the front windshield and they can delay this model till 2050 for me to buy it!

I agree, I am not feeling this car. Looks far better as a coupe. Soft top just makes it look unfinished and useless.

I honestly hope that the pop up wind deflector is an option. But i bet that if the tops down and its going over 50mph it automatically pops up

One of the best design features of the coupe is the long swooping greenhouse. This is completely lost on the cabriolet, and really hurts the asthetics in my opionion.

I was going to say something very similar, but not so eloquently.

I'm sorry, but this cabriolet is looking hideous.

Where the weather is nice there is always a market for cabrios. Here in the summers for example I see more CLK Cabrios or even Porsche Turbo Cabrios than I see the standard CLK or Turbo coupes. Statistics show that the sales of cabrios in Germany for example really take off in the summer.

But man, this new E-Class Cabrio just doesn't do it for me. The coupe is nice and sleek but the design just falls apart once that cloth roof is seen. Even the old CLK convertible looked pretty decent and lovely as a convertible, not this (as far as I can tell from the photos).

Here is Spain too, as it is a hotter country than Germany, but this Cabrio is just uglt, the greenhouse is ugly, the softtop is ugly... I donīt see the point for a car like this when the 3er already has a hardtop, and because of this Iīve seen much more E93s than E46s Cabrios by the time it was on sale.

The first shot shows the car in city traffic so the speed cannot be too fast. I think it goes up when the top goes down. It looks like it is not only a wind deflector but also is a sun shield because of the long sloping wind shield. Whatever it is it is ugly!

I completely agree that this car doesn't flow right. The shape of the cloth roof just ruins the harmony.

Maybe it will look better in real life, but from the photos I am shocked that this exciting design has turned into utter blandness with the addition of that cloth roof. Funny how such a rather small change can reflect upon the whole visual appearance of a car!

You're right. That was the great thing about the original CLK (and E-convertible before it): the soft top retained the shape of the hardtop and none of the gracefulness or beauty was lost between the models.

Yep…personally, I miss the elegance of the C209 Convertible…Probably this new one would have looked much better with a hardtop!

Just like the E Sedan it slopes downward too much, design looks a mess IMO.

I thought you liked the E-coupe?? Thought you were planning to trade your car in for one.

I do hate the look of the convertible, but the Coupe is a favorite of mine.
