Aww, did MB purchase their very own M6?

They could have, the brand is fiercely competitve. I'm starting to grow weary on MB again... dammit.

The M6 still looks better though.

I don't know that BMW M does HP mathes as the competiton increases their ratings, this has not been done in the past and may not happen in the future.. but who knows? Things are always liable to change.

I think BMW is flirting with the boundaries of what is possible considering that they are using NA engines. So they have a V10, then maybe next generation a V12... but it will end there. Eventually, all of the big 3 will hit a ceiling and we will finally be done with the HP war.

Absolutely, unequivocaly TRUE. I think AMG has hit its cap? At least thats what I'd like to think???... probably not. If you gave people hp ratings based off of what they could actualy handle or get their basic utility out of, that would be far more interesting then parading around w/ fireworks for all the "oos and ahs" of the car retarded. Anyone who says "you can never have enough horsepower" is drinking a bottle of B.S.

Warot^ the next gen M cars are going to go turbo to better compete. I think we can expect a turbo charged M5. I think your right about them pushing the limits of N/A engines.

BMw changed horsepowers for M5 E34, from 315hp to 340hp. For M3 E36 they changed from 286hp to 321hp. But I doubt it was cause of the competition.

Its a common thing they buy a car from the competition. I know Volvo bought a M3 E46 for their S60R. When BMW developed M5 E60 they bought a RS6 and a E55.

then, what did Volvo do with the M3? Did an officer take it over an S60R??? And what is MB going to do with that M6?

Yeah Volvo do buy cars from their competitors. One of my friends was with his at Volvo and in one of their buildings they actually had a 745i. The funny thing is that there is that Volvo hasn't produced any 745i competitor.

Yes, AMG buys M and RS cars to study their compition. M and RS do the same btw.
Somehing very interesting to me was what I heard from someone working at AMG. Porsche and AMG have signed of an agreement of exchanging cars. AMG ges cars from Porsche, and Porsche gets cars from AMG, so they both don't need to purchase the cars to study them!

I don't think it only limits to AMG cars either. When I worked at BMW SA, we delivered a 330i to Benz in a race track where they were comparing it to the C32AMG. I was surprised but after 2 days, they just returned it.

Some of the cars they buy and totally cut it into pieces to study how they are put together.

Thats very interesting. I find it kind of funny that volvo would borrow an M3, probably to crash test it! :P I also find ti funny that Porsche and AMG swap cars.

Oh yea and I happen to know that BMW bought a V8 Vantage to copy the acoustics of that car.

And now , that you guys see the final pics and slight performance figures , do you still think the CLK 63 is not hardcore enough to compete with M6 ?

I mean dont get me wrong , I never thought the CLK63 would be this hardcore either and turn out to be such a beauty . But I still want to know how many people have crossed their fingers on their opinion .

take it from a MB fan.. i would be very surprised if the CLK was faster around the track.. i dont think that will happen..
but in a straight line.. well lets say it will be a very very close race

Its for sure a contender.... Lots of torque. I dont see it being faster... It really isnt a track car.
