For the most part. I think he still got a lot of the details wrong on the back though. Looking foward to the AMG version, should be a cracker.

First off let me just say that I don't think the "Huck" versions of the CLK or the new E are going to be even close. You can tell from the spy shots already that the cars will be very different. And I sincerely doubt his versions of the tail lights will see the light of day.

On another note, Car Magazine has some new info:

It's pretty obvious if you ask me that Huck is very close. Sure some of the details are probably not 100% correct but he has been correct, especially with mercedes over 90% of the time.

I don't know why that back end reminds me of the current 7er and 6er... especially when you look at it from a side profile.

Yet another new Mercedes?

Yes, this time it’s the new CLK – codenamed C206 – out in 2009, that we’ve caught on test in the first snows of the German winter. The financial importance of the CLK cannot be underestimated for Mercedes-Benz - the mid-size coupé commands E-class money even though it’s based on (new) C-class underpinnings.

That means a big fat profit margin for a smaller car that’s less expensive to build and relies on subjective qualities like beauty, style and prestige to sell in decent numbers. Mercedes is hoping that along with the C-class saloon, estate and sport coupé variants, total combined C-class sales volumes will lift from 395,000 units in 2006 to 535,000 pieces by 2010. That’s a lot of cars – and a lot of profit.

Let’s hope it looks better then the current CLK?

Good point. Today’s CLK is a somewhat awkward and gawky-looking slab of metal that doesn't quite carry off the upper-echelon image Mercedes is so keen on. Take a close look at our spy pictures though, and things don't look too good for the next-gen CLK.

The windscreen is a little less rakish to boost passenger space for four (helped by a longer wheelbase) but the CLK’s flanks shows some wince-inducingly ugly blisters inspired by the F700 concept car, which had everyone drooling over it for its technology rather than its looks. Running from wheelarch to bumper, they make the car look frumpy and bloated. Not a good start for a premium model.

Will it be any better on the inside?

Well, for a start it will feel far more special than the current model’s. Our sources claim there will be a significant increase in perceived quality, with the same level of build quality found in the new S- and CL-classes, helped by a bespoke cabin layout.

Rather than simply borrowing the C-class dashboard architecture, the CLK gets a bespoke layout with an integral sat-nav screen that’s more S-class. Other goodies include massaging, ventilated, heated and active front seats with an easy-entry inward tilting system, and a hard-drive equipped digital sound system.

Presume there will be an open-topped version in the mix?
Yes, as with today’s CLK line-up, a convertible – internal name A206 – will arrive six months after the coupe bows in. Rather than opt for the now almost obligatory folding metal roof, the open-topped Mercedes will feature a traditional cloth roof.

To reinforce its premium image, the cabriolet will be equipped with a heated fabric roof, called ‘Silent Top’ that will cocoon passengers on even the coldest day, as well as a more advanced neck-warming Airscarf system and a semi-automatic wind deflector.

Tell me about engines and gearboxes

The new CLK will offer a full range of petrol and diesel powerplants from frugal four-cylinder diesels to fire-breathing 700bhp AMG monsters, all hooked up to Mercedes G7-Tronic automatic transmission.

The petrol line-up (all direct injection) starts with a more muscular 300bhp CLK350, a 354bhp twin-turbo CLK450, topped by the artificially aspirated 428bhp CLK550. The diesels units will comprise two Bluetech units - a 2.0-litre good for 204bhp and a 3.0-litre V6 listed at 252bhp. Expect a soft hybrid within 24 months of launch.

The AMG line-up defies belief, kicking off with the 481bhp CLK63, a hotter 525bhp Black Series and a frankly insane Signature series with at least 700bhp, limited to a production run of just 100 units. Since the CLK is based on the C-class, it makes do without air suspension and active body control, but for the first time, V6 petrol engined CLKs will feature 4Matic all-wheel drive.

CAR really thinks they know a lot out the next CLK. A CLK450 twin turbo? Now the heated soft-top I can see Mercedes doing to melt ice and snow in the winter. Smart since it doesn't seem like they're going for a folding hardtop. They also seem to see that just like the current car the shape isn't quite right. We'll see.

I have doubts about the turbo V6.

I do to. There is no need for that with Direct-I
+ A Signature Line with 700hp? come on man.... Thats rumered for the SL63 (or 60 Black Series.)

That boot lid wing is making me worried, I hope that it's fake and exaggerated.

The roof line is a lot lower than the C209, thank god for that. Otherwise this car would be yet another step backwards from the current car.

I hope the interior will look good!!

This is looking very good too me. Interior looks like an improvement on the C, without the flip up screen.

The way the third stop light is engraved in the camo shows how exaggerate the bottlid is in the camo.

The general shape looks quite good, it is low and long, much sportier and sharper than the current one.

Wonder how the new rear wheel-arch will look like in the flesh...

It looks like the interior will be more upscale then the one in the C-class. Peep the silver colorued air vents on the center console a'la S-class and CL.

Would be great if the interior get some design elements of the CL and S-Class! That would definitely add a lot to the car - but I think it will get more form the C-Class...
