Why no Jag SUV yet?

Jaguar sales are falling, have been doing so for a while now yet one of the best ways to boost failing sales is an SUV model or two so it's surprising that at Tata has not took Jaaguar in this direction, especially considering they also own arguably the greatest SUV brand in the world with more experience in such things than just about any other, the wealth of platforms to chose from is vast.

Come on Tata give us a Jaguar rival to the X5, Cayenne, ML and Q7....... PLEASE.

EVO magazine interviewed Jaguar's head of R&D a few months ago. He basically said Jaguar suffered from a lack of funding during the early to mid 2000s so they are still playing catch up. Now that they have updated their core range of cars, they will focus on getting the X-type replacement first and then they will have a SUV.

I must have missed that interview, thanks for that.

If there's one SUV that would get me out of a Cayenne it would be this. I just love how Jag do things.

Don't see the point. They got LR. The only thing I see worth pursuing is an Allroad version of the recently released XF Sportbrake. Otherwise I see an LR or RR selling much better than a curvy version with leaper slapped on it. I prefer it if Jag spent their time, effort, and resources on a viable 3er competitor than an SUV.

Also, I'd rather Tata first invest in products that are reliable and durable and then start on diversifying their offerings.

Jaguar are always in the top half dozen in the UK JDPower and quite often in the top three. Maybe things are different in the US but here we don't have much problems with they it seems and on a personal note my XF was 100% fault free.

Yeah the LR and RR will always out sell it but Jag needs a sales injection which a SUV would definitely do especially in the American market.

I did this rendering a while back:

Indeed, Jag needs a SUV and a 3er competitor... I really believe they will look amazing :)
Design wise Jag went in the best direction IMO and they only need to extend their range (y)

They might need it for a business case, but I'd hate to see it from Jag. From what I understand, when they started getting more focused with the new XF style line, they said that they wanted to be more "exclusive" and "sexy", which might have been a lie, but an SUV wouldn't help that case.

They did say that when Ford was running the show, but under Tata, Jag is supposedly trying to go against the German Three.

And few brand other than Jaguar have the heritage and image to pull it off.

There are patent images that exists for a Jaguar SUV/CUV. Maybe some of you have seen it? It was earlier this month, but I think somehow those patent images have been pulled in a cease and desist manner.

Jaguar has been so starved for cash until now so give them a chance. I'm sure they're going to be sharing at least one SUV chassis with their partners at Land Rover.

Jaguar rules out SUV but not crossover | Car Advice

I hope it won't be the type of crossover that's the equivalent to Audi's Allroad, personally not a fan of those types.

Given how popular the range rover is for its Britishness a Jaguar SUV would be instant hit unlike their recently launche combi.

Found them! Talk about a crossover might be genuine, but these photos don't seem photoshopped. Remember that this magazine reported the patent images of the new A-Class back in May. I am hoping these aren't unauthorized, as I found it really weird that I had seen them at the beginning of the month on either Autospies, Insideline or LLN, then the articles disappeared.

Looks like not to much effort was put into that render as it's basic lines follow the Porsche sketch.

I would have thought that if Jaguar were to build an SUV it would make more sense to twin it with the Range Rover Sport/Discovery replacement.
