What BMW M car exhaust note is this?

    BMW M changed the title text on this post. It now reads "Please listen and guess: what (known) M Automobile is waiting here for its start tomorrow?"

    So, its not a new M car.

    Very smooth. Sounds like a turbocharged I6 for me. M135i F20/F21? 1 Series M Convertible E87? 1 Series M CSL E82?

    Whatever, I think N54, but I could be totally wrong.

    I would say a 135i or 1M with the inline-6 sound N54. Now all of the M cars sound almost the same especially within their series trim level.

    Also, BMW has now resorted to putting audio synthesizers under the dash that "play" engine/exhaust sounds through the speaker of the stereo system, which sounds more like a cooning sound of a fetus (i.e. BMW M5).

    Sounds I6 but not like the 1M, two exhaust pipes not four?. If the picture is not related to the noise then I would also guess M135i, it's also known.

    Could it be a 1M convertible? Scott has said it was a possibility depending on coupe sales and the timing could be right.

    It says "known". It could be a special version, so 1 Series M CSL, but it has officially stopped production. Only the M135i is known to us, and it does not sound like a V8. I think the pic has nothing to do. Maybe even M335i, but not M3, because it is too early, we won't see it even at M festival.


    Yes, surely. I also thought it was from some game.

    Really cool. I remember playing BMW PACE - Pursuit Across Europe and M3 Challenge, this one seems alot better.
