As far as I can tell, buying a car or liking any given brand is not matter of numbers or mechanical facts. If this person is expressing his/her dissatisfaction with the brand because it's becoming a commercial whore not staying true to what he/she liked about it on the first place, while you may not agree with it, it's a personal choice and feeling, and there is no need for offensive comments. I guess we are all here because we are passionate about cars and so we devote our time to read or comment on cars, brands and their decisions. Furthermore, brand philosophy, while mostly transmitted by marketing, is also based on personal appreciation and perception build upon first-hand experience. We create our own ideas of these companies and expect them to act accordingly, if they go out of the concept of the company that we have build in our minds, we are entitled to look for what we may see fit elsewhere, just as this person suggests to have done. That's why we have more than one brand on each segment, each fills the very same need in different ways and approaches. If BMW no longer fits his/her perception of what it should be, he/she is completely entitled to be opinionated about the subject and post it, as it is the purpose of these forums to debate over cars, brands and companies. Our avatars are what we choose them to be. They are not mandated or dictated upon us. If this person likes and owns an M3, or just for the sake of fun of having one on the avatar, again, it's personal choice. And just for fun, the person is claiming "current" dissatisfaction, less than six months, I believe the M3 has been arround longer than that We can all disagree, but the manner in which we do, says a lot about ourselves. :t-cheers:

I don't know how you manage to get away with a post like this. Care to explain why having an avatar of MY OWN CAR, which I love and will continue to love and OWN for the next two years at least makes me look stupid? I would really like you to answer the above question but I doubt you will. My plan was to replace my M3 with the F10 M5. Unfortunately, due to recent decisions made by BMW, such as the milking of the 'M' brand for the X5/X6 M, has led me to look elsewhere for the same reasons an AMG was never in the running when I bought my E92 M3. To me BMW always occupied the ground between Porsche and the rest of the premium car manufacturers. I admired their pure motorsport ideology, and whilst they didn't make out and out sportscars like Porsche, they also didn't just stick a tuned engine in a standard car and throw a few 'M' badges at it. The X5/X6 M ended that thinking and to me they are no better than Mercedes-Benz. No worse, but no better. BMW still make great cars, and if I am in the market for a comfortable diesel then I can't see myself looking beyond a nicely specced 530d F10, but as it stands now, there are just too many doubts about the M brand. Who knows. I may even end up in an F10 M5 in a few years. But the fact that I am even considering something other than a BMW is truly Earth shattering to me. My advice to you is to stop taking my decision to look elsewhere as a personal insult, which is what you seem to be doing.

Ok, its also beyond me if someone turn down a car based on BMW or CM behaviour. If the car is good and I like it I will buy it whatever BMW done in the past. But nonetheless, you need to work on your attitude Rik.
