Can't believe it's already time for a facelift. Sadly Volvo are dead just like Saab, they refuse to innovate and focus to much on Scandinavian customers, which is why their cars fail on a global scale. What's with the Monaco shots when the car has no glam, thrill or persona whatsoever.

New S80 is a good looking car. The seatcomfort is amazing, the seats are better than what BMW/MB offer.

I really like what Volvo offers. Very nice design, elegance focused and not shouty at all. Very politically correct, with sporty touches ofter (see S40). Interiors are also very nice and the scandinavian look is awesome. If only they focused on those little details that make the difference.

For me the biggest dissadvantage is their engines. They NEED better engines. Imagine a Volvo with slightly better materials and german engines. That would be a very strong player.

I own a Volvo because of the supreme comfort it offers. My next car won't be a Volvo though. I want something more sporty and not so big! But as soon as I can afford two big cars for myself, then I know what the second one will be!

Isn't that just what the all new D5 and 2.4D are ? Apparently they are completely new, not just updated versions of the existing unit.

I don't know anything about those two engines, but the 2.0T is very very thirsty!

I quite like the S80...the interior is unique yet unfussy. The exterior is reserved. However, my big gripe with this is car...lacks rear leg room for car in this class. What's weird is that this car is based on FF platform, but the rear space is that of a FR...I guess the Haldex AWD system eats up alot of room.

I too have always like the S80. It is the quiet-money luxury car. Extremely comfortable seating matches anything from Mercedes, BMW, Audi, but the ride doesn't match something like an S-Class, but it isn't supposed to for the price. Its a very nice, safe, comfortable car. That said I've always wanted Volvo to produce a giant sedan on the order of a S-Class or 7-Series, can you imagine the interior it would have...nice.

I always found the bonnet to be too short on the new S80... However the interior is amazing, I love the design. Really this interior is gorgeous, with those clean but classy lines... Superb. Only the retractable GPS screen is not cleanly integrated, too bad.

Why everyone is saying the seats are so comfy even more than MB ones? did u guys try the multi contour seats?:D
  13. Just_me Well-Known Member

Don't be so one sided, look outside the box. Volvo always had comfortable seats, shouldnt come as newsflash if someone find Volvo seats to be good. After my testdrive with Volvo S80 V8, I didnt want to get out of the car again.

Because you don't have to pay 10.000€ to get super-comfortable seats in a Volvo... The multicontour MB-seats are maybe even better, but they're so expensive that nobody takes them.

So Volvo has more comfortable seats in 99% of the comparisons you make. Only the S-Class has better seats in standard.

Not to mention the praise Volvo gets from ergonomics experts.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this all new or just a facelift?

Facelift. The S80 must be doing very badly if you haven't seen them around.

    Have they changed something?
  20. Monster Global Moderator

Yes, but nothing important, the badge on the grill is bigger and it no longer sit inside a square. They have added more chrome trim on the lower air intake.
