Re: VW Scirocco: First Official Pictures I completely agree with you. All the Golf were cool, they were somehow more emotional than the competition, something the Golf V completely lost. I mean, when a IV and a V are parked together, the IV still looks better for me... I don't like the Golf V at all. Same goes with the Passat, the previous one was cooler, more attractive then the current one. This Scirocco, on the other hand, is in the same time emotional, appealing, and premium-looking. It is, like previous VWs, cool and serious in the same time. Attractive, but very "professional". I like it a lot, really a lot. Could be my next car in some years. However, this interior is an enormous deception. I knew it would be like that, but even not a sporty wheel... I don't like this interior at all. it is comfortable, very ergonimical, but it looks crap. It's not appealing, it's not sporty, it's not premium, it's nothing at all. Like the Golf V. The Scirocco deserved better than that.
Will this have the same chassis as the Audi A1 (metroproject) when they are both put into production and save money?
Great question. I wonder if it features the revised, cheaper-to-make, multi-link suspension that's so vital to Golf 6's profitability and shorter production cycles... Yannis, your insight would be welcomed.
I guess the new on is true to form when you look at these pics, but I still would have like a more fastback like last Corrado. Then again, what does it matter we won't get this car! M
Sorry folks, but this new Scirocco just isn't a reflection on the original (I had a 1.8 GT Scala 1988). The original had real street presence and it's own style. The new model is just a Golf which has been remodelled. Come on VW, be brave and embrace a "real" version of your past glory!
This car is so sweet! Volkswagen has a winner here. The youth market is going to kill for this car - my prediction. VW just needs to price it right (aka "affordable"). Recently, in Germany, VW cars have gotten very expensive. The real "Volkswagens" are now Seat and Skoda.
I went to see it. The exterior is awesome and you sit sporty and low to the ground. I havent driven the car yet but its strong candidate when the time is in for a new car. I really like what I see
If you decide to buy the car you have to get the 122 BHP version or 200 BHP. If you decide for the 160 you'll have to re-map / chip-tune the car cause the 160 version we have here at work feels like a dead horse, those 160 are on vacation, seriously and unfortunately.. I've driven the new A3 with 122 BHP engine and it feels so much more alive than the 160.. and if you're feeling "RAW" you can always tune the 122 version Good luck, the Scirocco is one good looking and funny little sportscar..
Its not coming according to VW, its to expensive. Not even RS version is getting it according to some guy at VW:
