how many kilowatts is that engine.

I completely agree, just imagine what the 450CDI should be capable of, 390hp, 850nm? I am salivating at the thought of either of these engines on the MCT-7G with LSD.

    200kw

What about an intermedium spec like BMW? a 400 CDI with 320 hp?.
  5. Untertürkheim New Member

The 4,0l V8 CDI already produces 320hp(235kw) in its current state. I meant that the revision of this engine should be able to produce 390hp(287kw).

Thank you for your information and stats highly appreciated now i would love a new ML 350 cdi with that new motor would be great. With the new shape ML

Haven´t you talk to someone at MBUSA that has told you the figure (390)?. You sound very convinced.
  8. Untertürkheim New Member

Most people at MBUSA do not even know that DB makes a 4,0 V8 CDI. The limitations are now the transmissions, although once the MCT-7 moves to more models, the engines can really reach their potential.

I have heard that this engine should be capable of that output and torque, but the 7G may not be able to take the torque.

Even though this engine is capable of the output, its future is unclear with the new emissions standards, so there is hesitation to invest in development.

Interesting. Will MBUSA offer this version as BlueTEC?

How will this effect fuel efficiency. Does MB need to enter another HP war? And this time in diesel land?
  12. Bilal Well-Known Member

    350 CDI (272Hp)

The upgrade to the 350 CDI is already offered by Brabus for the 320 CDI engine. It costs around £1,200 and takes the 320 CDI to 272hp. The CLS Grand Edition is basically a Brabus-chipped 320 CDI. It makes you wonder that if MB is confident of offering this output on its own cars, how much potential their engines have in reserve?
  13. Untertürkheim New Member

It all depends on whether the Bluetec system can work with the revision. The Bluetec to be sold here is the same as the bluetec everywhere (212.024 sedan, .224 wagon), that cuts the 231hp down to 211 because of the exhaust treatment system and different engine configuration.

If this 272hp version got bluetec, it should still push out 250hp, if it works at all.

I doubt that it is simply a chip upgrade, I would think modifications were made to accomodate the extra power, at least with the cooling systems
  15. Untertürkheim New Member

Nearly no change in fuel consumption.

Looks like a typo? I'd expect 212.024 and 212.224 from MBUSA?
  17. Untertürkheim New Member

    Correct, 212 not 211, I corrected it.

Nope, it's a simple ECU chip upgrade. I know because we were trying to get it for my dad's GL 320 CDI from our local MB dealer;)

See here, notice the values are identical:)

Oh I did not doubt the power output from the Brabus to be the same, what I meant to ask was if you are sure that MB did not make any additional modifications? I know it is possible to get the power with chip alone, but MB may have changed other things to keep reliability.

If someone could get me the VIN from one of those cars I could check.
